No...they won't be removed unless you file charges against your relative for identity theft. If you don't want to go that route....your only choice is to pay the debt.
If this person did it once...they can do it again...they obviously have the info that is needed. You might want to put fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus on your credit file. |

The credit card company is going to conclude that if you aren't willing to press charges, then you are accepting the debt as your own (as a gift). They will continue to expect you to pay the debt and won't remove the debts from yoru credit history. |

Prosecute now.
Where was their heart when they were perpetrating fraud? |

You have to go throug legal means to get this taken care of...you can't just call up a credit company and say...my family member did this please discount these charges. Go see a lawyer and find out the best way to proceed. |

Your heart is going to cost you a lot of money. This person stole your ID - and you're family - what will they do to someone else? If you want to do what's best for this person, turn them in. I can assure you that unless you give the agency a name, it's an excuse and you'll be the one to pay. |

You are not doing the offender a favor by letting them get by with this. You need to report it to police. Without this action you cannot expect to have the charges removed as you are an accomplice (ethically if not legally).
Please make this person accountable. |

call the creditors and inform them what happened, they probably wont do aything with out a police report... Your family member should have thauht about this before srtealing your credit... |

My mother did this to me for 5 years -- before I turned 18! I got a copy of my credit reports a few days after my birthday & found out about it. I went directly to the police, showed them the reports, & filed charges against her immediately. This was nearly 20 years ago & she will be getting out of prison in a few years. Hopefully, she has learned her lesson by now. No, I have not spoken to her or the rest of my family since she was prosecuted & am glad I haven't as they all took her side that I should have just told the companies that gave my name credit before I turned 18 that I was underage when they did & therefore could not have agreed to a contract, legally, which would have let her off the hook. I refused. It cost me my family but taught the b|tch a lesson as well as anyone else that heard about. No one messes with my credit but me. |

slimick is right. Nothing will be done unless you file charges!
So, consider whether or not you wish to pay the entire amount yourself and have your credit trashed for 7 years, or make the person who did it responsible.
I have a heart too. I love my family, but so help me, even if my child did this to me, I would file charges. No one screws up my future and my credit but ME!! |

Confront the person who did this and ask why would they. Ask them to pay up and pay off your debts in full and try to get a PFD (pay for delete) letter from the collections. Otherwise wait 7 years to have this removed.
Such family members are such mega a**holes! |
