A few questions about credit cards?
I was thinking of getting a credit card ..but before i do i have a few questions and i am hoping someone will be able to help me.
I was thinking of starting with a credit card of a limit of $500 only ( this is the lowest credit card limit my bank has) so i was wondering if it sounds like a good credit card..it has
no rewards.
$48 annual fee.
55 days interest free period.
12.99 % p.a on both purchases and cash advances.
after the 1st may 2008 cash advances will increase to 18.49% p.a

If that is not good, then if i was to go with an other bank for a credit card, would i need a regular bank card with that bank in order to get a credit card with them?

Also, whats the difference between purchases and cash advances?

one more question, if i pay on time each month the interest will not affect me right?

Im so clueless about this.I'd appriciate a well detailed answer =].

NOOOOOO. Dont EVER get a card that charges you a fee. A good credit card would be the link below:
http://www.chaseinformation.com/dynelpmc/?cell=64Y9

purchase are just that (buying at the store etc), getting a cash advance is getting cash from the credit card (dont do this since they always charge big fees). If you pay in FULL every month, then you will not get charged interest.(you still want to get a card with a low interest just in case you dont pay in full that month)

i dont trust credit cards...but i am looking for one too, so i'll be keeping an eye on this question. =] goodluck and hope you find a credit card that suits you..

Just remember..if/when you get one... only spend if you know you'll be able to pay for it.

I do not want to sound nasty about this but frankly there are millions and millions of people just like you that should not have credit cards. They are taking this country down a really nasty road. Here's the thing, if you do not know the answers to these questions you should not have a credit card. Please do yourself a favor and get educated before you do anything else, and by education I do not mean on this site. I mean talk to the bank offering the card and then talk to another and another. Check with a credit union also and consider talking to a store that offers a credit card for comparsion sake. You'll learn what you need to make the right desiosn. I will give you a tip though, never, ever pay a credit card company for th "prilvegage" of carrying their card unless its American Express. You won't have the credit history to get one of those for a while. Also see the jump from 12.99% interets to 18.49% theres a reason they are doing that, and its becuase they are counting on you to not be able to pay and they make their income off from interest. Please think carefully before you act..

I would research several cards. There are many sites that
allow you to compare credit cards. One that I know is a
reliable site is http://www.rightcharge.org

They break cards out in categories such as balance transfer
cards, low interest rate card, reward cards, student cards,
cards for people who have poor credit, cards for people who
have no credit, etc.

They make it easy not only to compare cards but also to apply on-line. Also they have secure on-line applications and free articles to help you make the right choice for you.

I would definitely check this site out.

Good Luck!

No, sorry this is not detailed, but you should never pay an annual fee for a card with no rewards program. Heck, you should never pay an annual fee period.

I agree. You need to get a card with no annual fee, low interest rate and rewards.

1st off you don't get to pick your credit limit, the bank does but for your first card the limit will probably be low.

12.9% is a good intrest rate but the card may be harder to qualify for.

there are lots of cards out there with no annual fee. so that seems high to me.
most cards only offer 20 to 30 day grace period for purchases so that is excelent
yes if you pay off completly within the grace period you will avoid intrest charges.
the 55 day grace period woud make the annual fee worth it if you pay off in time each month.

cash advance would be if you use the card to get cash from an ATM or teller and always carry a higher rate.

good luck

The annual fee is too high for a basic credit card.
The interest is the standard rate.
You don't have to have an account with a bank to get a credit card with them.
Purchases is when you make a payment with your card. Cash advance is when you retrieve money from the ATM with your card.
If you pay the whole owed amount within the interest free period then you won't pay any interest.

If you want to get a card with lower fee and best credit history.
You would have a look at this:http://www.creditcardscom.cn/
And you can also know which cards are bad~
