Yes, and you usually don't have to pay as large fees if using a debit card (for instance, Ryanair only charges £1 debit card fees, but £3 credit card fees). There are 3 numbers on the back on the signature strip called the 'CCV' code: you will probably have to type these into the site.
Make sure when entering your credit card details on a website that it is a trusted, secure site (should begin with https in the vast majority of cases) and that you have not been redirected to another page or something.
Paying by card also gives you certain legal rights if the goods do not arrive etc. Well worth it. |

Yes you can but check with the site which cards they take, but they normally take the main cards.
The common cards they do not take are solo and mastero |

Yes. You use them the same way you do a credit card. The advantage is that it comes right out of your checking, you pay no interest like with a credit card. |

If it has a Visa or Mastercard logo on it you can use it anywhere Visa or Mastercard are accepted - however - if the site is not secure and someone obtains your information, the money stolen is going to be swiped right out of your account! When I was married to my first husband someone used the information off of his debit card to purchase airline tickets over the internet. Although the bank eventually replaced the money, they had 45 days to investigate and we really didn't have the spare cash to cover our inconvenience. Lesson learned, over the internet it's safer to use paypal, or a credit card - at least you can dispute the charges |

not a stupid question at all.
yes you can
be careful that the site you order from is secure - sometimes you will see a padlock icon at the bottom of your browser when you order - this shows that the site is secure.
sites will ask for your security number as well - this is on the back of your card and is helpful in case someone finds out the long number on the front of the card.
thanks. |

As long as it has a Visa or Mastercard logo, you treat it like a credit card. Otherwise, NO. |

yes, you can. Most debit cards work like credit cards in that situation. It depends on your bank. Most big banks (Chase, National City, Bank of America) work the same. Smaller banks may not let you do it.
Just try it. If it doesn't go thru it won't hurt your account. |
