ATM Withdrawal with my Capital One Credit Card?
I recently recieved, and activated, my Capital One Platinum Visa credit card. One quick question I had, for anybody who knows, if I were to go to my bank's local drive-thru ATM, would I be able to withdrawal money from my card? My card has a $300 limit. Yeah, I know it's low... but, it's my first card. So, let's say I was wanting to withdrawal the full $300, would I be able to do that? Would I have to pay interest? Because, right now, I will not be charged interest until February of 2008. If somebody could please answer my question, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks in advance!
- Wade L.

Even though this does not make any sense, but anymore, you can't get money off of your credit card! Like at the grocery store, etc. when you want Cash back, you can only do it on your debit card because it money you physically have and a credit card is like a loan. I know, I know, you end up paying it back in the end, but I guess that is the way it goes! But yeah, I think ATMs are the same way now! Sorry buddy!

You could take a cash advance but I think you need the PIN. However, if you take out the max credit limit, you will be over your limit. There are fees for cash advance and if you look at the fine print of your card agreement, that 0 interest rate doesn't apply to cash advances.

Capital One is famous for jacking up your interest rate at the drop of a hat. Go over the limit and you get an over limit fee and your rate goes to 30%.

Better way to build your credit, just charge a few small things on the card and pay it in full at the end of the month. After about 6 months to a year, your limit will be increased.

Hi Wade, I would call the credit card company but I do believe you can do a cash advance if you set a PIN. Check to see if you can still get the good rate and ask how much of your credit line is available for if you get a cash advance.
Hope this helps!

You cannot withdraw the full $300, there is a specific amount that you can withdraw from an atm. It is different for everyone, and Capital One should have told you what your limit is. If you withdraw the cash, you will be charged interest, a very high interest at that. I currently have a capital one card and my interest on cash is 19.97% while I pay half that on regular credit. Make sure you really need the cash before you withdraw it because like credit, they will keep charging you 19.97%, or whatever your interest is, per month until you pay it all back (including all the new interest).

Credit cards are for emergencies only. Be very careful or you will end up in serious credit card debt. Cash advanced do not use. If you cannot pay the $300 at the end of the month please do not take it out.

You will be charged a fee both for using the ATM machine and also interest in the given amount of money that you are borrowing from capital one. Hope that made sense if not this site might explain it better.

Dex
If your contract with capitol one states you pay 0% interest until feb 2008 then you wont pay interest as long as you pay back the $300 before that date. The most important thing to think of before withdrawing the $300 dollars would be the the fee, wich a $300 cash withdrawel may cause you to over withdraw your credit card. Another issue with that choice is that you may run into is a decrease in your credit score for using more than 35% of your available credit.

You might not be able to withdrawl the whole amount because the bank might charge you a service fee. As for the interest, the no interest is for puchases, not cash they will charge you interest.

Be careful - CapitalOne charges 3% ($10 minimum) of a transaction for a cash withdrawal at an ATM. This is in addition to the carrying interest charged on the account.
This is why people try to get "cash back" with purchases. You buy $20 in groceries and ask the clerk to add $20 to the total and give you the extra $20 as "cash back". No Cash Withdrawal ATM fee.

you can't use the card in an ATM because these cards from Capital one do NOT have a PIN NUMBER and you need a pin number to deduct money from an ATM.

I HAVE a Capital One Credit card and it did NOT come with a pin number...
