Since working out a budget plan, itemising all my outgoings, sorting out my direct debits and keeping an eye on every single penny of my income for the last three years, I usually have around about £150 left at the end of the month to spend on "whatever". I usually seperate that into 3X£50, to be spent £50 on clothes and girlystuff, £50 on impulse puuchases and £50 to go when it's suddenly needed for stuff like petrol, kebabs, unexpected journeys etc. |

About £500 a month, depends on what sort of month it is. But it all begins with how much you earn in the first place. My monthly bills were less when I rented but have increased with buying.

That has puzzled me for a while as well.My Gert gives me my pocket money for the week and that's it.I never know whether we are in the red or black at the bank.Do you think she would get upset if i asked to see the bank statements?Or should i just trust her and let her get on with it? |

That left over money should be part of your budget as well. Bills are just part of your budget. The budget is a useful tool to plan what you spend. When you plan what you spend then you make the money work for you.
When you do your budget you should always do that budget for that month. There is no master budget. Each month and even each week in your budget will look different. It should look different.
There is nothing wrong with putting clothes, movies, dancing, shoes in your budget. What you spend on those things are not quite as important as actually planning to spend that money. When you plan than you can actually start working toward savings goals and building up wealth. Good Luck and have fun. |
