Am i liable for my husbands credit card debts?

If you live in a community property state, then you probably are; just as your property is held in community, so are your debts. If not, then the credit card company may try to TELL you that you are to collect on the debt, but that doesn't mean it's true.

If the credit card is in both names then you're jointly and severely liable.
If it is just in his name then you aren't/

Has he passed away?! If he has then no you shouldn't be liable for them, as long as you send the death certificate to each credit company he has dealt with...

...if he is not passed away, why would you be liable? Have you set up a joint credit account? As a wife you should work together with all your debts and bills.....

You may very well find out that you are - as you are classed as being financially interdependant, whether you like it or not. Try visiting experians website for more info.

If the credit card is in HIS name and you are divorced the answer is no. If you are only spearated and he has died the answer is YES.
If you were still together and he has passed away, then the answer is YES.

If he can prove that you are on the card also or that you have purchased things using the card then you may be liable for any debt that you added to the card.
