You have to find out what is motivating the spending....
nothing will change until you do.
DO you shop to relieve stress....does the shopping replace a bad relationship or some other emptiness that you might feel?
the shopping is the symptom only |

Call and cancel them if you don't have self control. |

If you lack the discipline to pay off your credit cards and only charge what you can afford to pay in full every month, then you should cancel all your credit cards. Yes, it will take a chunk out of your credit score. But not as bad as running up huge credit card bills and not being able to pay them.
Until you learn the difference between WANT and NEED, you should deal in cash only -- no credit cards, no debit cards, no check book. |

Call the credit card company and close your account! I did this two years ago and have no credit cards and couldn't be happier with this choice. I think you will be too once you do it. You will feel so in control of your finances and of your life! Start a budget and stick to it, you will be so happy when your money starts doing what you tell it to do - you'll find you have so much more than you felt you had before. It'll take a couple months to get the budget amounts correct, but it is worth it. Take control, don't ever go into debt again, and you'll be so relieved and peaceful. :-) |

My question to you is, "Do you really want to ruin your life by destroying your credit?" Credit repair is nearly impossible to correct if you owe the debt. So many people ruin their lives by doing exactly what you are doing. Just talk to someone who has been there.
I would suggest that you keep the credit cards as it is good for your credit score, but pay them off.
Call the card company, and report it lost. This will invalidate any of the online cards saved on websites.
When they send the new one, take it to a safe deposit box or some other location where it is not immediately available to you.
No one is going to do this for you. You must do this for your self. It's your life, and your life is not worth trading a few trinkets bought online for years and years of debt and bad credit.
Good luck, I hope you can do this! |

Been there! I deleted all my credit card numbers from shopping sites, and gave my cards to my hubby, who hid them away. If you're really serious about it, you can call your credit card companies and put a hold on your account, so even if you're tempted, you can't casually use them. |

tell the credit card company to deny all new purchases on your cards |

I keep them hidden, then when I am out and go to grab the card, it's not there!!!!!!!!! This works!!!!!! Get a personal loan, pay them off, cut them up!!!! I saved myself thousands of dollars in interest and years of having to pay on the cards......not to mention.....credit score shot through the roof....
DO NOT close your accounts.....this has a negative effect on your credit score |

Call the credit card company and tell them you want (NEEEED !!!!!) to cancel your cards. In a savings account put money away until you pay your cards off. Then do something really special for your self. If your like me that will be many, many years from now. GOOD LUCK!!!!! |

CANCEL THE ACCOUNTS.
Cutting them up isn't doing you any good.
You sound like you're addicted to shopping. |

When you pay the bill, put in a letter to close your account.
Never open any more. |

I have had that issue as well. Delete all or rip up any of the credit card numbers that you have recorded. So that it will take care of online buying. If you want to buy something hold off and wait a couple days. You'll realize it's pointless and it will decrease your impulse buys!
Good Luck! I hope this helps! |

No one can magical bestow self control on you. Like dieting - until you decide that the desired result is worth the sacrifice of the immediate reward - nothing will change. Look within for your answer. |

dont cancel the credit card in case you think of that it will spoil your credit rating. i have several cards since years and i dont use them as i never carry them. i only use paypal for online shopping and have never put any of my money there ever. the money i use is from whatever i sell and get paid....fun stuff!!! |

Put them in a container of water and put it in the freezer. Then you'll have to re-think the situation while they thaw out.
Good luck! |

It sounds like you don't have the self control. Get rid of all the statements or item which have the credit card number on them. If you have on line stores you use remove the number there as well. Short of canceling the cards I am not sure what would prevent you from using them. Perhaps you need to give yourself an allowance and every time you use the credit card you have to log the amount you spend. You stop when you reached the allowance you gave yourself.
To figure how much that is take all your daily expenses, rent, utility etc. ad them up and see how far your income takes you. If there is any money left for spending see how much you like to put into long time savings such as a Roth IRA. What ever is left after than is your allowance. |

You and only you, have to decide to stop any addiction! If you really want to stop something, you have to control your self. I know it’s easier said than done, but this is truly all that is to it! How about finding another hobby to take your mind off shopping? |

PAY THEM! Once you start paying the full amount of your balance (not the minimum due) every month, you'll look at the cards and your finances completely different. Good Luck! |

Make this promise to yourself and keep it -- I will never buy anything on impulse. I will wait one week and if I still want (whatever it is), I can buy it then. It really works. |

how do you say?

YEAH take a look at your last statement notice how much interest your paying ... and how much of your actual payment last month affected your balance... chances are none... if you have a high interest credit card. It should be a crime how much credit card companies are making off the public-who normally get suckered in by no interest for 12 months or no interest on transfer balances till 2010... hint read the fine print...MISS A PAYMENT AND THEY WILL INCREASE YOUR INTEREST RATES BY 50 BILLION PERCENT AND YOU WONT PAY OFF THE BALANCE TILL 2020!! |
