Luckily, there's a lot of options for people with bad credit nowadays. More than likely, you could get approved for a 'secured' credit card since a security deposit is required and it 'secures' the line of credit if you default.

But there are also many 'unsecured' credit cards available for people with poor / no credit. These DO NOT require a security deposit and will help you build / improve your credit history. You can find a complete list of unsecured offers here:

http://www.asapcreditcard.com/unsecured-offers.html

* I would highly recommend the Orchard Bank Platinum card. For one thing-- it's very competitive in comparison to other offers for bad credit. Plus, if you don't qualify for the 'unsecured' line of credit, Orchard will offer you a secured credit card instead-- meaning you only have to apply once-- and only 1 enquiry on your credit report.

GOOD LUCK!

If you are looking for a credit card for bad credit, there are many options to choose from. The two main types of cards available are either a secured credit card or an unsecured credit card for bad credit. Both types of cards can help you repair your credit by giving you an opportunity to establish a good payment history. The costs and fees associated with each type of card are very different, however. In addition, depending on how bad your credit is, whether you have sufficient income and other personal details, you may only qualify for one or the other.

First let's look at the secured credit card for bad credit. A secured credit card requires that you deposit money with the issuing bank, and the bank will issue a credit card in the same amount for your use. Secured cards are guaranteed to be approved, because the bank has your deposit money in case you do not pay your balance. A secured credit card for bad credit operates much like a regular credit card. You receive a monthly statement, and you pay your minimum monthly payment or the balance in full each month. You are charged an interest rate, annual fee and possibly other fees for a secured credit card account.

Be aware that with a secured credit card for bad credit, your charges are not deducted from the deposit you have with the issuing bank. The bank is simply holding your deposit in the case that you default on your credit card balance. You must pay your monthly payments, and owe the bank the balance that you have charged on the credit card. You cannot refuse to pay simply because the bank is holding a deposit without further damaging your credit.

A second option for getting a credit card for bad credit is to get an unsecured credit card. Unsecured credit cards are available for bad credit clients, however, the issuing banks charge high fees to cover the risk of extending credit to a bad credit client. You can expect to pay anywhere from $200-$350 or more in fees which the bank will keep, you do not get that money back. Those fees are upfront costs for obtaining a unsecured credit card for bad credit. In some cases, the bank will allow you to pay the fees over two or more months.

There are several that would likely give you a card. However, be careful and don't apply for a bunch of different ones or you will lower your credit score. Pick one and apply for it.

I'm posting a couple websites below that you can do some comparisons of different cards and offers.

go with a "secured" card. they are cards with credit limits that match your initial deposit. Also, keep in mind there are some credit card companies that will extend unsecured credit depending on your credit condition.
Watch for dangerously high interest rates 29.99%+ and annual fees the are higher than your credit limit or whatever is comfortable for you to afford to pay each month/year.
Some will ask for an application fee. (those should be avoided).

Try www.appliedcard.com, www.householdbank.com or
copy and paste the search codes below for links to site to help you get started looking.
Good Luck

Orchard bank will most probably give you a card.

Capitol One will not without established credit.

I just started building my credit a couple years ago. C1 turned me down, Orchard gave me a $200 limit to start with.

"Apply for a rewards credit card. Reward credit cards reward you when you spend on the credit card. Normally, you can collect rewards through 3 ways.

* It involves earning cash back on the card, it depends on the amount you spend.
* Next one involves giving points to the customers. They can be redeemed for gifts like cosmetics, shoes, water heater, mobiles and other goodies which the credit card company offers.
* The last method of reward is providing airmiles. Airmiles are highly popular reward, as many customers like to redeem them for free flights or flight upgrades. Whatever type of reward credit card you opt for, carefully note the amount or rate at which rewards will accrue and also read carefully other terms and conditions.

I would start out with a secured card. Granted you would have to put a deposit upfront to secure a line of credit, but the deposit would also garner interest while you're proving your creditworthiness. My advice with a secured card is to start off small (like $200-300), charge less than $30 on it, pay it in full every month, and increase the security deposit if you can every couple of months, if you have the extra cash to spare while it's temporarily tied up in the security deposit. The higher you can get the limit while it's secured, the better it will look once it's unsecured. Remember, if you use it wisely, you'll get the deposit back, you will have saved you quite a little nest egg emergency fund and you'll have an unsecured card to boot.

If you have a checking or a savings account, I would try where you do you banking first. Sometimes they offer secured cards or even unsecured cards with a small limit. Orchard Bank(HSBC), Bank Of America, and New Millenium offers a secured card as well as bank.
