Loan sharks is a classic categorization of anyone loaning money at a usurious rate and ensuring they collect the outstanding debt through any means necessary, including intimidation and violence. They exist because there are (unfortunately) people who cannot get a loan from a bank secured by only their signature (personal) as they have no reliable income, are over extended financially or have no equity/assets/ to mortgage.
Do they exist today ? In the USA ? YES YES.
If you want to find them go to the more depressed areas of your town and shop around... they may not surface as they will think you are an undercover cop, as you do not fit in with the locals and you are unknown.. Thank God you have never had to use one. |
