Sppurr | Anyone know anything about Provident loans? |
Im considering gettin one and would like a bit more information. Is £500 the maximum you can get for first time? If pay back early do you still pay the full amount? Do they do credit checks? What do they need? And what reasons would they not lend me. Thanks |

I am not sure if the maximum amount is £500, but you can check this on their web site. If you pay it off early the do deduct some interest. They don't do credit checks but the interest rate is very high. They need 2 forms of ID, One photographic and your national insurance number. You can apply on line and it takes 4days to get the cash.

Only use them as a last resort. As stated in other answers, the interest rates are obscene!
Even if you have a bad credit rating - do still try companies/banks that offer low interest rates. Don't do it on the internet - make an appointment with say all the banks in your area and go speak to them face to face. Think outside the box - what have you of value that you could put up as collateral. Or maybe a member of family or friend could stand as guarantor.
Also ask yourself - do you really need this money right now?
Even though it could be hard going for a while, could you live without a loan.
Good luck,
Steve

They are a lender of last resort - the interest is high something like 180% you would pay nearly double what you borrowed and the man comes round every week to get your momey.
Yes they will do a credit check and offer you a loan based on what they think you can pay.
I think you would probably have to pay back the full amount or close to it if you paid early.
Look - without knowing you your circumstances it is slightly obvious you are in the sh1t but if you borrowed £500 you would end up paying over 915 over the year or about £76 a month. You may be better shoping around if possible |

please be careful with this, you'll pay at least an extra £300 and you'll be charged extra for clearing the debt early, I hate provident because they prey on the desperate...they do very basic credit checks as their aim is to give high interest loans to low income people...It's highly likely that they'll lend to you |

I think the maximum you can get first time is actually lower then £500, £300 maybe. £500 is the maximum they do for even there longest running customers. If you pay back early, you will still have to pay near enough the full amount, maybe less a little interest. There interest rate is currently 187%, which is better then some places. I seen a place the same sort of thing as provident was charging 500% for there loans! They don't do credit checks but you have to prove your identity and work status. So you'll need two forms of ID, a utility bill to confirm that is where you live and a payslip to prove wages or benefits you receive. There are few reasons they won't accept to you but you will ahev to have a meeting with your representivite before they will agree to an amount! |

please stay well clear of these loans ,they charge you loads in interest
if you are on benefits i know these are the only resort ,but be careful i have used these many years ago |

Yes £500 is the highest you will get, no they don't do credit checks and you need 2 forms if ID, passport and bill. £500 will be around £20 per week for next 3 years, there interest is about 150%, if you need a loan try Greenwoods their interest is not so high. Both of them come to your house to fill in agreement and arrange time for weekly payment collection. The only reason they would not give it is if you had one before and never paid it. |

If you do not have an adverse credit history, try First Direct bank. They will give you a £500 overdraft straightaway. |
