i'm 22 i have 2 Credit cards. why because i am responsible and dumb at the sameee time. i pay everything i get on the CC's back but for your sake dont get one. after a while the charges add up. i mean dang, it me only a month to get $1500 in debt. i am paying it off but most of the stuff on my credit can i didnt need.
stay away from CC's dont spend more then you really make.

Right now it is almost impossible to get a credit card i am 19 and have been trying. I finally got one after 13 tries from capital one.

however i had to lie and say made $15,000 a year. I talked to my bank first and they told me that with the economy the way it is nobody is giveing out a credit card to anyone who does not make $15,000 a year.

I would apply through the bank of better yet, get a store credit card to start with such as JCpenney, American Eagle, etc. Just don't be foolish with it.

tim
Don't get one. If you like spending it will haunt you, just depends if you're making a decent amount of income. Your bank will most likely limit what your credit card is till they see you are reliable. At least that's what mine did...

its hard getting a credit card with no credit. i wouldnt count on getting a good one unless you pay a fee up front and a high interest rate.

I just got my own credit card since I'm going to college.
you can always get one under your parents' names, but you don't build your own credit.

Usually when you turn 18/getting ready to go to college, you should get a lot of offers from various credit card companies. Fill them all out.

I put a $500 limit on mine per month, and also, had my mom co-sign it for me to guarantee that I will pay my monthly bills b/c my account doesn't have that much money in it. It's not much, but at least it'll build your credit.

Depends on what you earn, you will get an extremely low credit limit and a high interest rate to start with.

Look through http://www.free-credit-reports.com/bad-credit.php where you can find the card that suits you most. As your credit is not the one to be dreamed about, you will ahve to use the plastic wise enough to be able to improve your score.

You should apply for a student credit card if you are attending college. because most likely, you will not get approved for a regular credit card unless you have a cosigner. The limit is usually around 500 dollars. However, I don't suggest this because many times people as young as you don't pay their bill in time and put it off and the interest rate raises, leaving you with a bigger bill than you started with.
