Actually, banks regularly tell other banks about your debts and if you have failed on payments. In fact they have a requirement to do this. They need to ensure that a person doesnt borrow lots of money from lots of banks at the same time, etc.
It may seem like a privacy issue but it protects them and the average customer from fraud, bad risk, making sure that they have enough money to cover their risks, etc. |

Only your spouse, as the debt is community property. |

No they cant, why have you got one on your case getting all heavy handed? just tell them that you've spoken to the financial ombudsman and they say they cant do that - they'll cak themselves. |

NO they most certainly are not! This contravenes The Data Protection Act and also, can sconstitute Harrasment under The Protection of Harassment Act 1998. If you feel that you fall under the above, visit your local Citizens Advise Bureau who will ofer you free legal advise.
The debt collectors can personally face a fine or in extreme cases, prison sentence. |

Here are your answers:
To other creditors?
Yes. Unless you have sent them an Opt-Out Notice.
To Joe Schmoe?
No. Report that creditor to the Department in your state that governs them.
To your spouse?
Only in community-property states. In SC it is only if your spouse is on the loan. |
