I want to open checking accounts at different banks just for their bonuses ($100-$200). I will close most of the accounts after a month or so.

You should not open so many bank accounts. Some banks and credit unions do credit checks for new bank accounts. So your credit will have 20 hard enquiries in a month. Usually it costs 2-5 FICO points per enquiry. So may be your FICO score will go down by 100 points. Besides many banks and credit unions also have monthly charges. |

In order to be eligible for this bonus there are rules as in they might expect a minimum balance, and that balance held for x amount of months etc. Banks do not do a credit report to open an account although most do check with Chex to see if you owe any banks overdraft fees, etc. Do you not think the banks have thought about people trying to rip them off like this and put checks and balances in to insure they do not? No i don't think so but i think you have to have the account open for about 6 months or so, before you close it or you will wind up having to pay them back. Believe me, you are not the only one who thought of this. |

MMMM i dont think it will affect your credit... however they might investigate the reason why u are opening so many accounts due to money laundring... also they might also look into the amt of money u are depositing.... |

Some banks do a hard pull for openning an account --- this will hurt your credit a little and this type of inquiry can be seen by other potential creditors
Some banks do a soft pull for openning an account --- this will not hurt and other potential creditors can't see this when pulling your credit
So overall if you have 20 hard pulls your credit score will drop, all the banks that can view these inquiries this activity will send a huge RED FLAG, you look financially DESPERATE for cash because inquiries do not show whether it's for credit or for verification of identity so even though it may be checking accounts you're seeking it still looks as though you're seeking credit.....also you would most likely have to keep all these accounts open for a minimum amount of time in order for you not to get an early closure fee which most banks have for those who open a new account and close them within a specific time period (usually 30 days)
You might also want to check if these banks require you to have minimum balances, direct deposit, referral, subscription, etc in order for you to get the money they are offering if so this may not be owrth it...and lastly you may want to consider taxes as this "FREE" money is reported by the banks and if it is in excess of $25 it is taxable income! |
