I used to be in debt but I paid it off slowly... every month I'd pay off £100 or a bit more (if I could afford it) try and pay off more than the minimum and you'll start to see results. I was in debt by £1,000 and the interest was great so it took me about a year to pay it all off and I'm so happy I did =) Now I don't owe anything and if I do use my c/c then I only put what I can afford on it and pay it off now every month and that way I don't get into trouble again! What a relief! |

I'm trying to pay mine off wouldn't recommend it to anyone debts easy to get into but can take years to get rid. I think education early on about how to handle money rather than leap into credit cards etc is the answer, especially in todays society when designer goods and a desire to keep up with the Joneses whoever the Jonses may be! |

Not financially.
I have no house, no wife or kids, and no car and a good-paying job.
But, if I had owned only one car for the last 15 years, I would have no savings left right now.
So I have no idea how anyone on an average salary could support a house, family, and a car. |

I am like you was but am now heading to debt freedom. I think there are more in debt than than not. Its too easy to get and when you start it is pushed at you all the time. more education is needed if people knew how much they were actually paying for it they might start saving or at least look for interest free. Trouble is when you start to get into trouble the creditors are down on you like a ton of bricks, and the good customer you were doesnt count for a thing. |

These people pulled me and my wife out of a blackhole, even though we both have CCJ'S and Defaults.
They do small loans till payday too.
Good luck |

I am not in debt. I saved £90 in the last 2 weeks which does not sound a lot but it all mounts up in savings.
I have been in debt and paid it off - never again!. |

apart from my mortgage which is trivial i have no debts. i dont use credit cards and i have money in the bank. but how easily things could change. if i was off sick for a few months i could be debt ridden and bankrupt. so scarey i think |

1pence... But dont worry if u are in debt! Carry on spending until you go broke and then appy for bankruptcy. After 5 years you are all cleared and free to spent again. |
