Evil_Cupcake | Bad Credit and No One will rent to us!? |
My fiance and I have tried submit applications for 7 apartments in our town, and NO ONE will rent to us, because his credit is horrible..He recently paid off his debt on his credit card, and it did not show up on his credit report, and his credit score is still really low..
my credit score is non-existant, as i just got my first credit card, and i have only paid 2 billing cycles..so it's showing up, just not showing any credit score..
everyone we try to rent from, just doesnt want anything to do with us..
they tell us either we're too young(21 & 24)<--which is BS..
or since my fiance's been to collections they won't consider us!
we can't have a cosigner because both of my parents are tied in with my brother and his loans..and my fiances parents are deceased...
we want to move out my parents house, because they are just too damn nosy about what we do! but no one will rent to us!
Help me =[
(ppshhhht not to mention a 1 bdrm apt here is at least 1250/month..) Additional Details I live in Fairfield County, CT.one of the richest counties in the country..i hate it here..but my family is here..=[! Unforuntaly we were dumb and signed a contract with a realtor stating we'd have to pay here 25% of whatever residence we last looked at with her, if we choose to rent from a private home, or another agency..
the worst part is between us we have $50,000....and still no one will rent to us..
and we both have good jobs (i make 14+ a hour) and have been at them for a year... |

Offer a larger deposit or to prepay the entire lease. You might find something on Craigslist where you can rent a room in someone's home.
If you marry this man who has bad credit you will have problems for at least 7 years after he stops his bad behavior. He may never learn his lesson there are people more than twice his age with bad credit. He is lucky your parents let him move in it will be hard evicting him even if you dump him. |

there really is just not much to say about this except to read the local landlord/tenant laws of your city and state. Check the rules of your local housing court, if you have one. Landlords do have the right to turn down potential tenants based upon credit ratings. |

Tell the realtor you are just going to stay at your parents house and then start looking in the paper or on Craigslist. I had the same problem when I sold my house. I had to pay a bigger deposit, but I got a nice 2 bedroom house for less than an apartment. You can easily find something on Craigslist. Be upfront and honest. Tell them you are just starting out and your fiance doesn't have good credit. Tell them you are willing to pay more of a deposit (which is refundable as long as you don't mess the place up or break your lease). |

The best thing to do is to find an independant landlord who owns a few rentals. Most of the time they don't check credit reports.
Look for rentals in the want ads, then go look at the place.
If they say they check reports, just leave.
Keep looking. Many small time landlords don't want to pay the 50.00 fee to check your report.
Personally, I have never had my credit checked by a landlord!
Good luck. |

Look for people that do not lease and or pull a bureau, it's hard for me to say so because I know most do pull a file.
Not much can be said...
IDEA!
ask them you'll put a few months of rents in advance! =] |

If you have $50,000; you might want to consider purchasing a house. That's a pretty nice down payment, and you can probably get a mortgage for around $1800/mo. Home ownership also does amazing things for your credit!
Or, you can apply for an apartment on your own (without your BF) and add him to the lease later.
Or, If you have a friend with good credit, you can ask them to cosign.
Failing all of those options, look for a duplex or converted house being leased by a private owner, as opposed to a giant apartment complex. Most of the time private owners are less concerned with your credit and generally only care about your ability to pay your rent in a timely fashion.
Hope this helps! ♥ |
