Bad Credit at the age of 16?
Okay, when I was 14-15
My brothers used my social security number and I blv my name aswell to get cable, cellphones and stuff. Since they had bad credit.

And they did get those services with my personal stuff, and they never payed the bills, which is aprox 1,000 and more in debt.

Does this mean I now have bad credit?
I don't want to show up to a job interview and they probably checked my credit and they are going to see that "i'm"
Not responsible.

Im so depressed.

Yes, I was aware, and I couldn't do anything back then I was young. & my mom has used my SSN as well, but I don't want to report her, and besides she never has any money so she can't even pay up.

& I doubt any of my brothers can even pay it up
(They are 34 and the other one is 30)

am I just able to say, that someone might have stolen my Identity? I don't want my mom to go to Jail, I could care less about my brothers. Either way, I have to many problems.

Your mother and brothers not only ruined your credit, they committed a felony.

Bad credit can prevent you from getting professional licensure, it can affect your car insurance, and it can keep you from getting a job. It's a very serious thing.

Under very, very rare circumstances the Social Security Administration may be able to issue you a new number, but not without an attorney...this is only because it has become more and more common that parents are doing this to their children.

You were a minor. What company is the right mind would grand you credit?. If you can prove that those accounts opened when you were 14-15 then that's their lost. Ultimately, your mom and brothers have to pay for identity theft for stealing your name and SS#. They could end up in jail.

ok all you need to do is to dispute everything on line with the credit bureaus. You can do that @ www.annualcreditreport.com where you may also get your credit report free of charge once a year. Also you can always place remarks on the credit report stating that there are identity theft issues. Also, contact the Federal Trade Commission and they can help you with the id theft issue. It's really not as hard to clear up as might think--especially if you have a birth certificate showing you were a minor when these incidences occurred. Here is the web address for the FTC

First, credit reporting agenices (credit bureaus) do not report credit for minors so there is no current credit score.

You may want to file a fraud alert anyway with ALL three credit bureaus letting them know you are a minor and someone used your social security number without your knowledge or consent. Then it will be noted on your file. You should be able to do this online.

Anyway if this haunts you when you turn 18 and your score is reported you will be able to have the negative removed as the creditors will not be able to prove that you opened the accounts since you were a minor when the accounts opened and cannot be held legally responsible.

It may take some letter writing and repeated letters but you definitely will be able to get these things removed if they appear on your report.

Sorry to hear about your problems, I feel bad for you although the good news is that in the scheme of your life this can be fixed.

well first if u try and report someone for stealing your indentity they will look far into it until they find out who did.Which will more then likely get back to your brothers and mom.
It will show up on youre credit report those debts until you pay them back.and seeing that ur brothers and mom cant afford it..u will be stuck paying it back if u want better credit.
When u get a job they dont look at youre credit to hire you. They may do a background check but none of those debts will be shown on there.
So basicaly all u ahve to worry about is having bad credit.the onyl way to fix it is to pay off those debts and try to rebuild credit.good luck!

It means that your bother is possibly guilty of identity theft. So if you should talk to your parents because unless you press charges you will have a tough time clearing your name. Also it is illegal for a merchant to provide credit to a minor and in unenforceable against you. But perhaps the best thing is for your parents to contact a lawyer to get this mess straightened out.
