Don't get into worse debt - with your history and lack of job, no legitimate lender will lend you anything, the only way would be through a dodgy loan company where things will only get worse because of ridiculous interest rates. It's tough at this time of year, but explain to people that you just can't afford presents, but make them a list of things that you'll do for them instead -gardening, baby sitting and so on - people will understand.

Provident or Greenwoods, both the same companies, go for the vouchers, 200 quid will cost you tenner a week, over 25 weeks. regards Alan. Just read post wots says "get of your backside and get a job" Sender can't realise you will immediately lose your housing benefit, Jsa and all other benefits and if your new Job is paid monthly your screwed. You can't judge people, might be a single mum, recently divorced etc and wanting to give kids a good Xmas. Your kids always come first, no matter the later affects of debts. If you are in Debt and this applies to everyone reading this, your Local Council has a Debt counsellor, It's a free service, and they will send out i&e statments and liase with your debtors and stop the harassement.

Don't you think this is what ruined your credit in the first place?

To borrow money for Christmas is financially irresponsible. To borrow it when you don't have a job is downright stupid.

Instead of borrowing money, go get a seasonal job and use that money to buy gifts.

angie
With all due respect if you have bad credit and no job why would you want to get a loan 4 Christmas.

Christmas has become far to commercialised and people feel under a lot of unnecessary pressure to spend money they do not have on gifts.

Explain to your friends and family that money is a bit tight and you can not afford gifts this year.

Make a game of it. Who can get the funniest/most useless/most practical gift whilst spending no more than £1 on each gift. It will be fun and memorable.

I'm sure if you explain your situation most people will be supportive and understanding.

Try the income support team, they wont let you go over the top and will deduct payments from your benefits. If this is not appropriate try the provident but repayments are a bit steep.Join a credit union these are a fantastic way of getting yourself back on the financial track. In the meantime tell everyone ,quite unashamedly",Sorry Im broke this year" just do your best for any kids and sort yourself out reaady for next year.Goodluck

Hi, don't even try, what's the point in getting into more debt!! Explain to the people you care about and love that you are in a mess and if they care about you they won't expect anything from you. Don't dig yourself into a deeper hole to please or impress people. Get your finances sorted and start again without debt. It's really hard I know but it's your best course of action. x

There are loans out there for people out of work - I applied via OK Finance - Google them - and have received several offers, but although I am not working, I have a good credit history, and equity in my home to secure against if necessary.

If you have no income, how are you going to pay the loan back ?

Get a job, there are loads of temp jobs for christmas. I worked once stacking the chocolate section at woolworths, and the next year packing the frozen veg section at asda.

Get off your backside.

Debt Line
http://www.tenantloansonline.com specialise in helping people who have a low credit rating to find a suitable loan for them.

They work for their customers not the banks so they can choose from every avaliable lender in th UK to find yu the best loan.

If there is a lender with a better APR than provident that are avaliable for you they will find them.

Hi there,
Well the first thing I would say is that if you have no job at the moment then it is probably not the best time to try to take out a loan? This is even more the case if you have a poor credit history as this will mean that if you did manage to obtain a loan then it would no doubt be at a high APR.

The credit reporting information link below will offer some help in understanding how the credit rating system works.

Hope this helps!

hard to get loans with bad credit rating, even harder if you got no job.best thing to do is try asking family,if they can't lend you it themselves, then ask one of them if they would stand as guarantor for you.

If you have a bad credit history and no job, no respectable people are going to lend you money as you will not be able to repay. The only ones who will are the moneylender sharks who will make you pay it back several times over. Forget it.
