Hi, I am wanting advice on how to go about having all my bank charges refunded, My bank fu*ked up over xmas, and because of this I have received £200 in bank charges, for going £25 over my arranged overdraft! I am furious,I went into the bank and they told me to ring a number and they would refund all my charges, however, it ended up as a full blown argument between me and the person on the phone! I have tried searching for sites that help you reclaim bank charges, I told the bank I am not letting anymore money go into the account until it is sorted!
I could really do with some help on this matter!!

There was £150 in my bank, and I spent £40 on my card, and drew the rest out, but the shops took the payment twice, so it is part there fault and part the bank! The shop refunded the payment, but the bank won't! |

Hmmm I did have some advice for you, but have just read your additionals. seems that you have a bit of a problem getting the story straight, so I can imagine why the bank might have been a bit reluctant to help you out. Try again with an apologetic approach and a straight story, you might get a better response. |

Ring the customer services again and explain the situation as i have had refunds .
If you do not suceed make sure you have the name of the person you spoke you and visit your branch and discuss the issue .
If this is not possible write to your bank explain the situation and the telephone conversation .

if this was a genuine mistake by the bank, I have always found they will sort it out, but if it was your mistake, trying to persuade them to refund wont be helped by losing your temper.
I now see from your added details that it wasn,t the banks fault, but the shop
Start from the beginning again, apologise about your attitude and keep your fingers crossed. |

I just got minbe back...some things you hear are saying that there is a freeze on claiming back until the courts have decided if the banks are wrong in charging...this could tke years...BUT...if you can prove you are in financial hardship...which means that your outgoings are more than your income...then they HAVE to give them back to you now. You should phone your bank and tell them that you wa
t to claim your charges back under the "Financial hardship clause" they will advise you further...they were very helpful to me...if you feel they dont advise well then see the Citezens Advice Beureau who will help you...google them and the name of your town...basically it tajes only a few weeks from you claiming to you getting your money back.... |

if you havent gone over drawn in the last 12 months then most banks will arrange a refund for you, ring again and be calm, tell them the situation, but also remind them it is against a banks ethics to charge these amounts when in reality it only costs the company as little as 4 pound overdraft, and thats only if it was a failed direct debit, anything else costs nothing |
