ive had my cell phone line for about 5 years now all the sudden ive been getting debit collection calls for another person im getting 1-2 calls a day its very irritating not to mention im paying for the incoming calls. ive told the people who call that is not his phone and please stop calling but they keep calling they say it takes a couple of days to get a Numbers out of their system then today i got another call and i told them if the calls did not stop i would contact my local police and file a harassment charge the women laughed and and said good luck charles( the person they are looking for is named charles) what can i do to make them stop? thanks for any help you can give |

get the name and address of the collection agency
You need to send a cease and desist letter to the collection agency by certified mail with return receipt. There are templates for this all over the web.
Ask your cell phone company how to trace a call. If they call again have the call trace. You can file a lawsuit against the agency for $1000 plus expenses.

Next time they call, read the following statement:
This is not my debt and you have the wrong person/number.
Pursuant to [your state] state law, this is to inform you that this phone call is being recorded. If you do not consent to being recorded, you need to terminate this call. Pursuant to [your state] state law, continuation of this phone call after officially being informed that it is being recorded implies consent to be recorded. This recording will be used to pursue Fair Debt Collection Practice Act violations in a court of law.

I would ask for the name of the company and get on the phone with their supperviser and explain that they have been harrasing you and you do not have his phone and that this is the wrong number listed so just say I would like to settle this debt and ask to speak to a supervisor1Once you get him or her on the phone talk to them and tell them what is taking place! Say this is not his phone and I would like to be removed from your calling list!Try this and if it dosn't work go online and place yourself on the donot call list! |

call your phone company and have that number blocked but most likely they have other numbers to call you from. best bet is get your number changed. i had the same thing but they do want me and not someone else :)
btw those people r f'in incredible by the rude a*s comments they make with their dumb sarcasm. i havent paid my bill because they act this way. my credits screwed anyways and im inheriting so i said what the hell. i told them theyd never get dime(which they wont. it would cost an arm and leg just to get $400 out of me by garnishment or court) and told em to f*ck off. |
