Best credit card to get with excellent credit?
I have 'excellent' credit ( 780-give or take a couple points depending on bureaus). I want to get another credit card because as of right now I only have one (when I was younger, I was stupid and closed one of my credit cards). Obviously, I"m not planning to max it out or go on a shopping spree...I dont do that (or I wouldn't have good credit lol).
There are SOOO many different credit cards, I'm not sure what I should get. I'm looking for low or fix APR, no annual fee and I don't especially want any of those 'rewards/points' offers.
Any recommendations? Be specific please.

Many people are recommending American Express cards...It might be a misconception, but not every store accepts them, right?

Also, I've been eyeing MERRILL+® Visa® Credit Card..which has 9.99% FIXED APR after a year. Simmons First Visa Platinum has 7.5% FIXED APR. Opinions?

It depends on your buying habits, really. Even though you're not crazy about the points offers, something like that may be what makes an average card a great card for you. Most cards don't have an annual fee, and if you pick through the offers you get by mail, you might find a gem with a low/fixed APR or introductory APR for a year or two. Mastercard and Visa are kind of middle-of-the-road, you can get one for airline miles, gift certificates at a store you frequent, etc.. These are generally offered by individual separate banking entities, so the APR and features can vary widely. Discover and American Express are somewhat different. As these are 'name brand' cards, meaning you can't get their card from 50 different banks (like you can with MC or Visa) they tend to offer something a bit different. If I remember correctly the American Express reward program allows you to choose your own reward in the form of a gift certificate from several different retailers. One drawback for me was finding out the classic American Express card did not allow you to carry a revolving balance (read: you must pay the balance in full at the end of each month or suffer penalties). I believe their "Blue" card nixed that requirement, but I'm happy with my current cards so I haven't looked too closely into it. Discover on the other hand, offers cash back. You CAN still use it like a gift card if you so choose, but they will also apply it to your card balance or deposit it into your bank account. If you're looking for something very simple, check with your bank to see if they offer a Visa or Master Card. Even though you won't be running it up, you'll have your customer history with that bank in addition to your high credit score working for you, enabling you to have even more buying power if you ever need it (or just want one card for any and everything you might puchase). My personal favorite card (I have 5 but most aren't used frequently) is my Amazon Visa card. Every time I spend a certain amount, they mail me a $25 gift certificate, which works out great for me since they sell everything. Hope this helps, sorry for the long wall of text!

Hey first of all take a look @

www.creditcards.com

Secondly go to Chase and get the 3% rewards card. Very hard to obtain but excellent for daily spending. Take a look @ that website.

Currently the Citibank Platinum Select is as low as 8.49%, with 0% intro apr for 12 months on balance transfers and purchases.

The Bank of America platinum plus is as low as 7.99% with 12 billing cycles of 0% APR on balance transfers and cash advances.

If you want low interest with cash back rewards I would say the amex blue cash or the citibank cash returns card are good.

Please note rates are subject to change, current rates are available below.

I would suggest Amex cards. I have excellent credit and I'm treated really well by them. I was as confused as you are but I checked out the site below and looked at what their research says about best cards. Very helpful!
