My guide to getting a 790 credit score:
1. Have 2 credit cards. Charge all your gas purchases on the one that will give you cashback on gas. Try to find another card that gives you cashback on supermarket purchases.
2. Essentially, you want to use these cards ONLY for expenses that you can predict and fit into your budget. For example, most people know how much they spend on gas and food every month. At first, just use your credit cards on those things.
3. Pay off the entire balance each month!!! If you carry a balance, you are probably paying a ton of money in interest to the credit card company. DON'T do it unless it is necessary, then pay the bill in full as soon as you can.
4. Credit cards should be used as a convenience, not as a personal piggy bank. Money you spend will come back to haunt your credit score and report quicker than you can apply for a loan. Do not spend more than you can pay back easily
5. Ask for a credit limit raise every now and then! It doesn't hurt your score, but if you can use under 30% of your total credit limit that is a good thing. Using under 10% total credit is even better.
6. Trust yourself. However, if you don't trust yourself, use credit to buy things you need, but if you are buying something for yourself as a treat, use cash or a debit card.
7. Remember, the name of the game is to BUDGET your money. If you get paid twice a month or every other Friday, it is even more of a necessary skill. |

There are lots of ways to do this. I suggest open a small savings account say 100.00 to 500.00 dollars. Then apply to the bank for a secured loan in that amount with monthly payments lasting more then 6 months, a year preferred. After this loan is payed off, apply for another non-secured loan but increase the amount for a purchase of an item, TV, CAR, etc... Again pay off this loan and the important thing is to not miss a payment at any time. I DO NOT recommend getting a secured credit card due to the interest and other charges you will incur. The credit you establish this way costs you way more then it's worth. A department store or gas company credit card is another way, but again interest is high so keep your purchases down. If you go the credit card route keep this in mind. purchase only items each month for the first year that you can pay off that billing cycle, and pay off the amount in full each month. You should due this for one year minimum at least. |

if you have no credit, get a credit card, but only use it if you have the money to pay for what you are buying. Pay it off immediately or right when your bill comes in. This way you do not pay interest but are building up your credit rating by paying your bills on time and in full. |

Paying your bills on time is a great way to start! Get a credit card and pay your bills with it and make sure you have enough money to handle the bills + interest. If your credit won't allow you to get a card I would suggest getting a secured card from your bank (a card that you put $$ down for them to hold). Also a gas card can get you headed in the right direction. |

Use a credit card for things you normally buy (groceries, gas, household products, etc.)
Only use the amount (on the card) that you would spend in cash. Put the cash you would have paid with into a side account (or just put it away) then at the end of the month, pay the credit card bill with the cash! |

Well i had bad credit at one time. What i did to build my credit is get a store credit card use it and pay it regularly. Say you have a credit card and you want to buy something use you credit card to buy it. even if you don't have a big limit you can put money on the card and just use it all the time when buying anything. secondly they have credit cards that you put money on if you cn't get a card and use work ait and build it up. Another thing is you have to go into debt, to build your credit. Its funny when you are in debt people want to give you credit and really the only way to build your credit is go into debt and pay it off and start al over again. It's true!!! |

Credit cards. Pay the full balance every month. If you have no credit whatsoever get a <secured> credit card. This is a card in which you have an account which holds a deposit.. the amount of the deposit is the amount you are allowed to spend. This is the best place to start. Then go from there. |

Pay your bills on time, get a small loan and pay it off, and just don't buy things you can't afford. |

First, you must have a substantial and steady work history. We are talking about at least 3 years of employment at one place. This shows that you are dependable. You must get one card that you use for "emergency use." You will purchase what you require on this card. Then you will pay it all off every month so that no bill remains. For example, a bill that is $40.00, will be paid in its entirety. Thus, you have no balance and that looks fantastic, especially in the credit bureau. Then, at a later date, when you seek to purchase a big item like a car or house, then it will be approved. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. - Psalm 68:19 - Peace, Love and God Bless. |

I disagree with Kristian K's answer, I used to do that for years and my credit never increased, until I left some debth on my credit cards, always paying the minimum payment on time for a whole year. My credit score went from 650 to 718 |

Get a store credit card, buy something you can afford to pay for, and pay it off immediately, in full. Do that with several necessary purchases, believe me, your mail box will be slam full of credit card offers. Be careful, don't get carried away. Chow |
