Today my husband received a call at work from an attorneys office saying that we need to make payments or they will repo my furniture. I can either voluntarily give up my furniture and have them put it in auction and be enforced to pay the remainin bal by a judge OR have my furniture repo by a Sheriff, in which will pick up my husband from work and have him take them to the sight where the furniture is at. Can this truly happend and is it me or does this sound silly? ( All this over furniture ) |

It's not "all...over furniture". It's all over you not making payments you agreed to make. It doesn't sound at all silly to me. It's sounds like they should have done it 2 1/2 years ago. |

The only part of this that sounds correct is that the person who received the call was your husband.
Some examples of things that are not correct include:
1. Your husband should not allow anyone to talk to him about this when he is at work. Immediately upon receiving any telephone call at work about a debt, say that you cannot discuss it at work and that they are not to call the work phone number, and hang up. Immediately after work, send a letter certified mail, return receipt requested, telling them not to call on the telephone (at all) and to communicate only in writing.
2. The sheriff cannot take someone into custody for not paying any debt, other than child support. That part was a lie.
3. Although it is remotely possible that the caller works for an attorney, that part also may have been untrue. |
