Can I call the credit card company and ask for a higher limit?
I got a credit card about 6 months ago with a limit of just $800. It's a student credit card. Can I call the credit card company and ask for a higher credit limit? I've heard you can ask for a lower interest rate and sometimes they'll give it to you, but is the same true for a higher credit limit?
Yes, you can request a credit line increase, but I would ask if they are going to pull your credit report to process the request because more inquiries you have it will lower your score... so if they say yes decide if you really need the increase or not.

Yes you can.

as a general rule, banks are always happy to give a higher credit limit.
However it does depend on the specific bank that you've been issued the card.
Usually banks look at your income and sources of funding prior to increasing the credit limit, but they do not pay much attention to it. So most probably the bank will increase the credit limit,
if not. tell them you found a better deal with some other bank, they will then ask which bank; give them a bank's name in random and provide them with a reasonable deal and i guaranty you that they will match it.(the deal)

You would be considered for a higher credit limit if (a) all monthly payments have been made by the due date and (b) you have remained within your $800 limit

Yes you can ask for both. I call ever 6 months and ask for lower interest. As long as you make payments on time. They are willing to evaluate your account.

If you have been paying you bills on time for the last six months...... call the 800 number n the back of your card and ask. The worst thing they can do is turn you down. If you are still a student and not employed, your chances are slim.

I would have thought that the credit card company would only raise your limit after a period of time and only then if you regularly paid your account in full and on time.

Yes but you need to pay on time to increase your ratings. Also all your bills have to be paid on time to get a higher limit.

Yes, you can ask. They have criteria, so they might not honor your request, but you won't know until you try.
Good Luck.

Yes you can do that, but they won't always grant your request. But it never hurts to try anyways. However since you've only had it only a few months they might deny it.
