I am thinking about declaring bankruptcy. I have about 10,000 in credit card debt. I am a full time student and I will be very involved on campus next semester. Is it a good idea to declared bankruptcy? How do I do it? Who do I contact? By the way, I do know that if affects your credit for 10 years, but I am going back to my country in a couple of years. You have to contact a lawyer to declare bankruptcy. If you declare chapter 13, you still may have to pay some of your debt. In your situation it sounds like a pretty good idea as long as you dont plan on coming back for another 7-10yrs ; )

if you can afford to make your current payments even though you will be involved next semester then bankrupcy is not for you. you don't know what your future holds for you, you only know your plans. those may not happen and you may end up staying state-side. so err on the side of honesty and pay your debts. |
