DO anything (legal) and I mean ANYTHING, before filing bankruptcy. Check out debt consolidators, get a 2nd job, find a rich relative (:) The ramifications of filing bankruptcy will haunt you for a very long time. You won't be able to get a job in any occupation where you need to be licensed (real estate, insurance, government) There are SO many negative thing associated w/bankruptcy, plus these dys it's just plain damn hard to do it! Contact your bill collectors pro-actively, you'd be surprised how kind some of them can be. If you contact them, they'll get off your back, (a bit) plus there's laws now that protect us from harrassment. They can only call you so many times a day and between certain hours, and not if you've contacted them 1st... |

Bankruptcy is a last resort which would remain on your credit bureau for years to come. Most States/Provinces have Credit Counselling Agencies. (Check your phone book). These are non-profit community services that will help you. They can work with you to determine a reasonable amount you can pay monthly to your creditors. Once you make this commitment Credit Counselling will contact your creditors and advise them of the situation. Future payments will be made through credit counselling on a pro rata basis. The creditors are required to accept the reduced monthly payment. |

Contact Consumer Credit Counseling, a non-profit that give debt counseling and can help you negotiate with creditors for lower interest rates and more manageable payments. They can be an excellent way to avoid bankruptcy.
Avoid the many imitators. |

Yes you can , however back in October the bankruptcy laws changed. Most attorneys offer free consultations, contact one and find out what your options are. Good luck. :-) |

Owning a home has nothing to do with bankruptcy. However, the laws were changed not too long ago for qualifying to do that. You must speak to an attorney. You can do it yourself, very rare anyone would show up at your hearing to contest it, but there are things you must do first. |

You don't have to own a home, but you must have creditors.
The new bankruptcy law has made it somewhat more difficult though.
You should contact a bankruptcy attorney to find all all of the facts. |

Yes you can file; yet your child support and any taxes owed
can't be filed against. |

Yes, But you should consult someone you trust. Bankruptcy is seldom the right answer. I have found that most attorneys promote it because it is EASY MONEY for them. What it really does is DESTROY your credit for 7 years. THEN you have to start all over again. There are many FREE legitimate financial counseling services available, Try them. Good luck. |
