I forgot to mention that I'm not at all interested in racking up a bigger debt with a credit card. I need one so I can pay my bills online. My internet company only accepts credit card payments not the re-loadable debit cards I usually use. |

Get a debit card from your bank (if you have a bank account)
You won't get a credit card with 2 negative entries on your report. They are probably reporting you as a collection account. |

yes there are credit cards that will give you credit cards, but I would recommend that you pay off your debt first. First, you will not be able to get a good enough credit limit with bad credit, second if you are in debt, you probably do not want to add to that debt, which will most definitely happen if you get a credit card. |

Bankrate.com gives information on 9 credit cards for people with bad credit. Click on credit cards, then select by credit score and then bad credit. You can pay to get your credit score from whoever you got the credit reports from. My advice, as somebody who was able to retire early and debt free: don't charge anything until you pay off these debts. If you've got to have a card (to rent a car, etc.) then get a pre-paid one. |

Start up a payment plan to both and get that cleared off your credit.
No matter the reason find and attend a class on managing $$ and credit. Will look good to any agency considering giving you credit.
There are credit cards for those with a poorer rating. They are called Secured Cards. They are issued to you whenyou deposit an amount of $$ into the account of the Credit card. You are then able to use the card as a credit card until that $$ is gone.You then deposit more and can never over spend as it only covers the amount in the account.
It allows you to use a card and establish a good performance record w/th credit that an Agency considering you for a regular card will look at to make a decision. Can help in many ways. Many banks and credit card companies offer these cards. |
