My understanding is that you can NOT get your own credit card while under the age of legally being able to enter into a contract in the country in which you live. The problem is you could take a card run the balance up then say you're not paying, they try to take you to court and the court would invalidate the contract as you were not legally able to sign it. I have seen this happen before. I believe under the legal age for your country you could only sign a contract of some kind with a co-signer of legal age. |

No; not as a rule. A person under 18 may not legally enter into a contract, and that's effectively what a credit account and its accompanying card is. I'm afraid you'll just have to wait - sorry. |

Be very responsible and pay off the charges every month, this will build an excellent credit rating for you, which you will need for a car loan and home mortgage. Sometimes toeven rent a apartment. No one under 18 can sign a contract and you need to be able to sign a contract to get a credit card. Not to mention, you need an income and a suitable credit score.

Yes, but your parents have to cosign. The better question is can you handle it. You should really think about how you spend, how much you spend, and what you spend it on. If the habits are good, then you should try for it. Almost any card will accept you if you're backed by a parent who has good credit. If your parents have bad credit though, that could hurt you. |
