You wrote that you need a credit card "to set up" an online business in Karnataka. Credit Cards are used by purchasers of merchandise or services and not by merchants to receive payments for their online business. If you are setting up a business, you would be a merchant and your clients/customers would use their respective credit cards for making payments to you. In case of your being a merchant, you require online payment receipt arrangement or a swipe machine account to facilitate others to make payments to you through their credit cards.
Anyway, getting a credit card these days don't even require to have a bank account with a bank and many banks offer this kind of facility free for lifetime. Check with your nearby banks (even outside your town if your town banks don't offer credit card facility) for the facility and with your current residence proof itself, you can get a credit card. |

Why is it not possible to get a credit card there? You should be able to get one, no matter the location. If there are no banks around there, apply online. Chase, Capital One, Citi are all big compaines, with many options to offer and compare. |

go to the nearest bank, open an account and tell them you are interested in getting a credit card. never heard that a small town won't give you one. whoever told you that wasn't very knowledgeable. anyone can have a credit card regardless, of your address. |

Which town of Karnataka are you in? If you are in a town that has a SBI branch / HDFC Bank branch / ICICI Bank branch / Vijaya Bank branch then it should not be difficult for you get a credit card from one of these banks as they are card issuing banks. Getting a card from a MNC bank in a small town is difficult.
As for your query on whether you can get a card based on your previous address, the answer is "no". The card company will need current address and card will be issued on that address only. |
