Can I negotiate with my credit card company?
I have a credit card with around a $50 annual fee and a $6 monthly servicing fee due to bad credit history. I obtained the card about 2 years ago. I've made all payments on time and always paid more than minimum due. Is it possible to negotiate and have these extra fees removed?

Also, what would be the liklihood of them increasing my limit (currently $250). I would like it to be at least $500. I'm always getting a guaranteed offer for a 2nd card so I think I could pull this one off.

Yes.

Have you gotten other credit card offers?

I find that my credit card company likes to inch the interest rate up on me for no reason. I call them up and fuss them out. I find they respond best when I tell them that if they don't do as I request, I will transfer the balance of this card to another and I will freeze this card in a block of ice and never use it again.

Ms. K
Yes you can always ask your credit card company if they have a credit card that doesn't have any fees. With credit cards, you should always check around and find a card with NO FEES. Also you may want to check around and if your credit is still not A+, see if you can get a secured credit card which has no fees and will help you improve your credit also. The advice I would give about credit cards is if they have fees, don't apply. Check with credit unions, their rates are usually lower and they usually have credit cards with no fees!

All you could do is ask. They might do this for you since you have proven yourself to them.

Good luck!

Call them and try. They will re-pull your credit and if it has improved you do stand a good chance. But in a "credit crunch" credit requirements tighten so don't be too upset if they say no. Good Luck

I dont see how you ever manage to keep up with this card.
They give you 250 and then charge you $122.00 per year to use it. ($6 x 12months + annual fee)
and that money is in addition to the interest that they charge you each month.

If that was my card, I would not be able to get it out of my wallet and into the trash quick enough!
What a rip off

I am afraid to ask what the interest rate on this card is
but I do think that you will clearly see that it is soo NOT worth it
Take a look at www.ripoffreport.com and see what people who have your card are saying about it . Since you did not type the card here, I can only assume that it is orchard bank or some other piece of shyt card.

Why not just put the $250.00 in your bank and make your own credit card...better yet just toss $250 in the trash since that is what you got for your fees (annual and monthly).

Get rid of this card!
Vinny the loan shark has a better deal than this

That depends on the card. I was a gold card holder on a WaMu Visa(was Providian) for 8 years. I recently called them to tell them I wanted a lower interest rate, and no fees. They gave me a lower interest rate, but said they couldn't take the fees away. I closed the account, which had a substantial credit limit on it. I guess it wasn't a bluff on their part. I would think they could take the $6 dollar fee off.
If I were you I would tell them to take all fees off. If they said they can't then close the account, and find another card. There is no reason why credit card companies should be charging fees when they are charging an outrageous APR.
