Your credit is crap because you were overpaid on one check and had 2 late payments?
Couldn't you have asked for an advance when your payroll wasn't processed correctly?

You may be able to take action for any interst you accrued if you had to borrow money due to the shortfall, but I doubt it. |

It is unlikely that this one situation caused your credit rating to fall so badly, in which case many of the other answers would be correct.
Try the Citizens Advise Bureau ~ thy are a real source of help and if you have credit card debt will put you in touch with genuine company's that can help consolidate debt correctly.
Suing your company would be costly and unproductive. |

You can contact the credit agencies and ask for a note to be put on your file explaining why the debts are there.
I think thats about all though. Maybe legal action against the employer but that would be expensive in its self. |

Assuming that you did have a case, and you did file a suit against your employer.....how were you damaged?
Did your poor credit result in the loss of a loan, or higher interest rates?
From what you are saying, the only damaged (other then the credit report gig) is a few late payment fees. That is about all you will be able to collect. (plus some court fees).
In exchange your boss will certainly not be happy with you.
Sadly I can only recommend you deal with the credit problem. A few late payments will lower your score for a few months, but by continuing good credit practices you will restore it afterwords. |

No. They arent responsible for you not paying your bills on time (or bouncing checks or whatever), and they did apparently eventually make good on the salary they owed you. And if they overpaid you, they are completely in the right for trying to get that money back. Sorry, you just need to manage your finances better. No judge is going to give you any money for this one. |

They didn't screw up your credit. They may not have paid you promptly (actually, if they paid you too much they paid your more than promptly, they paid you early) but what if you hadn't returned to work for them at all? Would that have made your credit good? |
