I have a collection for a $90 medical acount through a local collection agency from when I was 16. I called the collection agency, and they asked me to provide them with my drivers license. After that, it was impossible for me to reach anyone at the agency that could deal with my account. At that point I filed online a dispute through my credit monitoring service. The account was deleted as it was closed. A few days later an account appeared on my report for $95 listed under a different collection agency. I called and it was the same agency! They even wanted me to speak to the same person who had handled the other account. I was livid since this sould have appeared on my parents credit report and not mine. They refused to send a deletion upon payment letter, so I refused to pay SINCE IT WASNT MINE. I disputed again, through my redit monitoring service and through the CRA. I got an alert as it appears that they have refiled it under the orginal Collection sv (ABQ Collection SVC) for $97. Is this legal? What are my options.
