Can a person write a 15,000 check with no balance?

You can write it, but you will pay bank charges when it bounces.

You will also be breaking the law so may end up in court.

you can write one for however much you want but if you try to pass it off, pay something with it or cash it with less than the amount of funds that you wrote it for in the account that it is written on, you will be in trouble- bank fees, bounced checks and if serious enough could lead to fraud charges being brought against you

waggy_33
That's called fraud which is a felony in most areas

If that person wants to create money out of nothing then he can. Also he should be ready to face ire of bank authority and others.

Sure you can. You can write one for $100,000 if you want. Just keep in mind most business will call to verify the funds are in the account before they let you walk out of a store with $15,000 worth of merchandise. Plus if you get caught writing a hot check for more than $100 dollars it is a felony.

yes ofcourse u can write 15000000000 worth of cheque to fill some tobacco and to lit it. and have fun with friends. no one will stop you. i promise.

I wrote one for $1,000,000 once. It is worth as much as the US$1,000,000 bill I got in the mail from a dentist. The US treasury has never issued currency in denominations above $10,000. Denominations above $100 have not been printed since 1945.

Attempting to use a check you know is not covered by the money in your account is bank fraud. You could get in serious legal trouble.

churchonthewayseniors
a person can write the check but i would not do it because it will bounce and i would not mail it either....you will pay a fee to the bank and the bank will most likely close your account and it is against the law to write a check that has no funds to cover the check...the police will be knocking on your door and arresting you....

Sure but the bank won't clearit unless you are running a business and making large deposits everyday.
