Yes. But they are only suppose to ask in these situations:
1 - When it states on the back of the credit card to ask for an ID
2 - When the signature on the receipt doesn't match the signature on the back of the card
3 - When the back of the credit card is not signed, has rubbed off or if the strip is missing (which technically voids the card) |

Yes, they can. I have been asked from time to time for my ID. I felt offend at first, but I don't mind since I have been hit for identity theft. The person is just doing their job. Hopefully you will not have to be in trouble for identy theft and someone would checked for id and realize the person isn't you and not let get what they want at your expense. Hope this help.

Yes, if the MC is not signed on the back! Not too many retailers do it but they technically are supposed to so they can assure no one else is using your card other than you. |

NO, but if you haven't signed the back of the card, they can ask for ID, and if you refuse, they can refuse your purchase. Some retailers will ask for ID with all CC purchases anyway, and continue to do it because most people don't argue. |
