The Visa Gift card works much like a debit card. If you don't have the funds for their pre-authorization hold amount (which includes all nights of the stay and is usually excessive in case you use all the amenities of the hotel), then it will fail. To make matters worse, they may charge your debit card without using the authorization they obtained for the preauth hold. In that case, you'll need double the capacity on the card for a period of 7 to 30 days before the hold disappears.
Note: Hotels differ at booking. Some charge you up front for your entire stay. Others just hold the account number and make no action to charge the account. For the later, they only use the booking charge card in case of a no show (the morning after the no show). |

Yes, most of the gift cards have a website on the back. You will have to register the card under your name first because before you can make purchases for certain things that require you name. I hope this helps. |

yes it can. However you may have to register the card in your name because if you are paying for something over the phone they may ask your for your billing address etc and your address has to match the one on the card. So look for a website on the back of the card. GOOD LUCK! |

Yes you can depending on the balance. Many companies, esp. hotels and gas station put an authorized amount through on the card. Basically they tell the credit card company that they want the ability to charge your card $X. Lets say the room is $50 per night incl tax and service charges. They may want to hold $75 per night to cover any damage and phone charges, etc. That money is on hold for them to use, it cannot be used for anything else. Then, when they charge your card, they take just the $50 per night. The balance of $25 per night sits on the card as hold for up to 10 days.
Why I am telling you this. Well the card should have room for the hotel as well as the amount they want to authorize. May front desk people will not be able to give you the amount, it is done automatically. If it is declined, this is probably the reason.

Probably, it's the same as a Visa card, as long as there is enough on the card you should be able to. But then again, if you run up a huge bill or cause damages, they'll charge it to your card, so now that I think about it, you may not be able to use a gift card, so I don't know, |

It depends on the Card. Some "Gift" cards even though they have a VISA logo are only good at specific locations. This is most common with the Gift Cards sold by Shopping Malls. They are only allowed to be used at the stores in their particluar mall. If this is the case you MAY be able to book it with that number, but if you try to pay on the room they will not accept it.
You have to check the terms of the Gift Card it will let you know if you can do something like this. Also, if it does allow On-Line purchases it will give you the verification information to enter in such as the Billing Zip Code. |
