Nope...I'm in the banking industry and I see people 2 or 3 times your age who can't handle a $6000 debt. If you lost your job, do you have enough saved to cover the payments for 3 months? If not, I wouldn't do it. Not to mention, if you drop $6000 into your car, and it is totaled tomorrow, the insurance company is only going to give you book value without the extra work you put into it. |

A responsible lender will check three things before writing out a loan to you: 1) Loan to value - is the amount of the loan in line with the value of the collateral? 2) Check your credit - has this person been prudent with debt in the past? 3) Debt to Income - how much does this person make versus how much does he need for other committed obligations (housing expense, prior debt).
In the case you make, #1, we'd have to look at the value of the car as-is to see if it would support a $6,000 loan. (maybe, maybe not) #2, do you have any credit history or a co-signor with strong credit history? (maybe,maybe not), #3) do you have income enough to repay your payments? (doesn't look like it - no job).

I'm 28 and I still have trouble securing a loan for college expenses. However, if you have parents whom are willing to help, then ask for a co signer or have them get it for you.

this depends whether you can afford the monthly repayments, doesn't it? If you're 18 and jobless, I wouldn't have thought you could. At best a 6K loan is going to work out at repayments of a couple of hundred a month - probably more.
PS Regarding the answer from Ethan Y, there is no company in London - or indeed anywhere in the UK - called the Richards Loan Agency. he has been reported for being a nasty scammer/spammer. |
