You are allowed 1 free credit report from each of the 3 major agencies each year. Transunion, Experian and Equifax. Order your reports online directly at each site. There may be mistakes on your report or who knows what. Check it out.

Whenever you are denied credit, you are entitled to a free credit report within 60 days of that denial.

You have the right to dispute ANY incorrect information with the credit bureaus.

You are also entitled to one free credit report per year:
annualcreditreport.com

There is some fantastic information on the internet, do a search on credit information. My favorite is creditinfocenter.com

You can go directly to the credit bureau's websites to order your credit report.
http://www.experian.com
http://www.equifax.com
https://www.transunion.com

Or order by phone:
Equifax 1-800-685-1111
TransUnion - 800-916-8800
Experian - 888-397-3742

Beware of companies offering a free credit report, it often requires a membership that can be as much as $50 monthly.

It is really important that your credit reports are reviewed annually, so that any errors can be corrected before you need to apply for a loan.

Every time you are denied credit, you are entitled to a free credit report. The instructions on how to get one are on the letter. If they are not there, you can go to www.creditexpert.com and get one there.

Sleepyguy
maybe you have to many credit cards

First of all freecreditreport.com is NOT FREE. In order to get those reports you have to sign up for a credit monitoring program that will cost you anywhere from 90 -200 per year !!

You are legally entitled to 1 free report per year from each of the 3 credit bureaus as per FACTA. You can get your TOTALLY FREE reports by going to http://www.annualcreditreport.com .

If you have a collection it will show up. You would then dispute that collection with the credit bureaus and wait for the CRA to investigate your dispute. If it comes back as 'verified' or 'remains', then you will have to dispute a 2nd time directly with the collection agency.

You should pull your reports at LEAST once a year, twice a year is even better. In this day of massive identity theft, you cannot take the chance of ignoring your credit reports.

you can contact directly any of the 3 businesses that handle credit reports in the USA and they will tell you what information to send to them in writing for a copy of your report. they may charge a fee for this service I don't know for sure as I am not an American.

The three are Experian, Equifax, and Trans Union. All have 1-800 numbers available I was not able to easily see the one for experian so their website if you want to look further is www.experian.com Equifax 1-800-685-1111 and trans union is (800) 888-4213.

I also found this info on the trans unions site which you might find useful.

You are entitled to one free Personal Credit Report in a 12-month period under the FACT Act amendments to the Fair Credit Reporting Act. To request this free annual report, you may contact the Central Source online at www.annualcreditreport.com

good luck!

you can get your credit report for free, if you go to www.freecreditreport.com you can get a report for free or wait for your denial letters to come in the mail and once you see which company they use you can call or go online to that credit agency and get a free report, and once you have it look for the Collection Agency/account on your record and contact them to see if you can make payments or pay the past due bill in full once you have done this wait about 6 weeks and apply for credit. Or if you are one of the lucky people and the bill is already paid and you have a receipt from the company contact the agency and let them know of the mistake, then write a letter to the credit agencies sending a copy of the receipt as proof of payment and ask them to take the Collection Agency off your report.
