Take this advice...get an Orchard card. They report to all 3 agencies and they are made for people with no credit or bad credit. The interest rate is lower too. Going with a department card is generally more interest rates. Look up orchard card in yahoo. I think it is orchard.com but double check. Be careful not to run up too much debt on them either. I am paying for it years later! Also, make sure you keep your balance around 33% of your limit. If you take this advice seriously you will have a great start to credit worthy-ness |

Target has it's own in store visa. Macy's, Penny's and Sears. This may be a good place to start. Also HSN (Home Shopping Network). The way I did it years ago was to save up enough money, put in savings account and went to a local furniture store, tell them what I was trying to do. Bought a couch for my apartment. Paid it off in a timely manor. Then I used that credit history to buy me a car. |

The GAP, Old Navy, K-Mart, Walmart, What state are you in? Get a cell phone in your name it builds credit. Or your local furniture store. Get something you can pay off in about one year or less. Home Depot, Lowes.
Their are several! Good luck!!!

This is a very good way to establish credit.
You can also contact a card company and see about getting a "secured" card, where you deposit the credit limit yourself, then use the card and keep paying on it. It sets up your good payment record history. |

Target definitely has one. Also since you're a girl, I know that Victoria secret has one too. I know that I just went to my local credit union and signed up for one with a 300 dollar limit. It was easy and it stops me from over spending so that I can start with a good record of credit. I highly recommend it. |

A lot of department stores have their own credit cards whom report to all 3 major credit bureaus. Doesn't mean they are easy to obtain w/o any positive credit history. You can apply for a variety of credit cards with NO credit history that are major credit cards. These credit cards help you build good strong credit history upon good payment history. The cards offer small credit limits ... usually 150-300 to start with. Also there are credit cards in which you will have to pay a deposit in order to obtain (I do not recommend those). Also to build your credit many companies offer prepaid debit visa/mastercards in which you load your own money to spend. Well this is just some advice. Hope it's helpful. Best Wishes. |
