You can always cancel your credit cards..but i'd say don't cancel before you get that good card and don't transfer balances..i worked for a credit card company..and they get you with the 0% balance transfer offers..DON'T DO THEM!! what happens is you transfer your balance and if you buy something when you make your payments you payments go to the highest APR so say your regular APR is 10% and you have your balance transfer at 0% (which usually is only at that for a 6 months)..untill you pay off your balance you whole payments will be put toward the big purchases...which means when your 0% is over that whole balance that you transfered is now at 10% and none of you payments went to that amount you transfered so your min monthly payments go up (since your bal is higher)..i hope that made sense..and i hope it helps!

Definitely. If you don't want to pay the annual fee. Don't use it. 'Cause if you do, you agree with their terms and conditions.

You don't have to threat them to transfer to another card. It not always works. I work for a credit card company, when people said they want to close the acct and transfer to another card, I close the account. It only takes less than 30 second to close the account. No need to threat anyone.

Sure, just call up the company and tell them to cancel it (pay off the balance first). Tell them you don't need it anymore. You could also call them now and ask them to remove the annual fee permanently (tell them if they don't you'll just get another one somewhere else and cancel theirs). They may do this to keep your business.

It should be possible.

If you want to close the account that has the balance and want to transfer to another card. Transfer balances are not always good or not always bad.
Here what you want to do
1- Get an account with 0% for 1 year. Only use this account for balance transfer and don't use this same card for purchase. This 0% can definitely helps you out.
2- Divide the amount you owe by 12 months, make monthly payment as the amount that you come up with, by the time the promo runs out, you'll pay off the balance.
3- Use a different card for purchase because when you send in the payment, it will allocate to the lower APRS before balances with higher APRS.
4- Divide the transaction fee by 12 months, if each month the transaction fee is less than the interest you pay on the existing account. It's definitely benefit to transfer. If you don't save much on your transaction fee, don't transfer.

Of course.

Zero out the balance.. call the number on the back of the card.. cancel the card, request a confirmation in writing. Make sure to make note of the time you called, who you spoke to and the reference number of the cancellation or phone call or both.

I wish you well!

Albert
Get your bill, look for the phone number of that company, if it wasn't there, just look it in the directory. Then, pick up your phone, dial the number, and tell them to cancel your account. Obviously, you didn't give, whoever is on the line, your account so be prepared to answer some questions.

yourmtgbanker
Yes, definately. There are so many credit card companies that offer no annual fee. I would not pay for one. Just call the customer service line on the back of the card and tell them to close your card and report it as closed per customer request.
