Yeah, you can get one with a debit card. All they ask for a credit card for is ID, but debit card can also be used as ID.

Yes. You only need a debit card, it doesnt have to be a credit card .There are great exclusive online deals on the internet, many with next day delivery. Or go into a phone shop and you can have the phone registered while youre there, aswelll as negotiating a deal to meet your needs.

As its direct debit you may be able to do it with just your bank details, but you'll probably need good ID sources which include your address.

*******
Go to a mobile phone shop and get it there

E. Gads
Yes... I obtained one from Sprint . However, they required a two-year contract and a spending limit of $150. Meaning that my monthly charges can not go over $150 or my services are put on hold until I pay the amount.

not necessary a credit card I dont think.

They want to see that you are in regular full time employment and see that you have a bank account and a debit card.

You have to be credit worthy

Tefi
Try orange, I have only a basic bank account, no debit or credit card, walked out with a free phone and great contract, all they needed was bank details and utility bills to prove where I lived.

Steve C
ou do not need a credit card to get a mobile phone contract.

Get yourself into Carphone Warehouse - they are easy, especially on 3 contracts!

Make sure you tell them you have lived at your address for over three years (even if you havent) and if you are unemployed tell them that you are self-employed - dishonest i know but when needs must...

That would depend on how you are planning to buy your mobile phone contract. If you are buying online, I would say that you would have to use either a debit or credit card. Buying a phone face-to-face probably wouldn't require one. The main thing that I have been hearing is the credit score. A good credit score will give you more purchasing power and the seller more confidence that they won't be making a huge mistake in securing you as a customer. I purchased mobile phones for my wife and me over the Internet, so I had to use a debit or credit card. I believe, however, had I gone into a business and had the money in hand, they would have sold me the phones on the spot.

Yes. It depends on credit rating rather than if you have a credit card or not. If you have a good rating then you should have no problem wherever you go. If you have a poor rating then it may be more difficult. As long as you have a bank account you should be fine.

You don't need a credit card to get a contract mobile phone, you do need to have good credit however as credit checks are performed when you register for a phone and the results will mean you are either accepted or declined, this also sets your credit limit – i.e. how much high your bill can get before your line is suspended.

A current account is helpful though so you can set up a direct debit, this is easier to pay bills with and means you do not pay a £3 non-DD charge. Really credit cards are only used as a proof of ID when you are first registering for a contract or to pay bills once you have a contract - there are of course other forms of ID, two are needed, normally a bank card, drivers licence or passport are used as ID proof, things like bank statements or utility bills for proof of address (single proofs can be taken on credit cards or debit cards, this makes it easier on the networks when they are doing credit checks).

fizzygod
Not a contract, no, unless you have a debit card. But you can use cash to buy prepaid minutes.

Yes

No, even if you want to go on the pre-pay plan, they still require that you have a credit card. It is getting so that without credit in today's world, you are going to have a very rough time, since there are places that will not accept CASH. Years ago, if anyone would tell me this, I would say that they are crazy. But thats the way it are now.
