Some employers run a credit report on applicants because they think it shows a maturity level if you pay on time. If you are having major financial issues, they will think twice if your application has anything to do with cash handling at the job. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the employer has an insurance company that says people with poor credit are poor risks in general. It might not be fair, but a lot that goes on in the hiring and selection process isn't really fair. |

Yes you can. Many government jobs require security clearances. Part of the security clearance process is a credit check. If you have bad credit, someone may use it as leverage to get you to disclose classified info, for example, offer you money, offer to pay off outstanding debts, etc in exchange for info. If you have bad credit, it may prevent you from getting a clearance that you need to get a gov. job or a job with a company that is contracted by the government. |

Actually, yes you can. It seems like discrimination and I would check into it, but I know for certain that you can be turned down for a job if you have bad credit. My husband is the operations manager of recruiting services for the Air Force and bad credit will keep someone from being able to enlist and also can be grounds for discharge. |

Yes. Banks mainly. |

yes actually you can,, a money carrier, or bank could reject you as a risk, feeling if you had bad credit you may steal.
And in the nuclear industry they could reject you for fear of selling secrets to get out of debt. |

No, you won't. It's non of their business to know other than banks. |

It's rare for a job to run a credit report and I would be weary of one that did. They have to tell you if they plan to. |

most definitely yes. particularly if the job you are applying for has anything to do with money management. Bad credit is a symbol of inability to manage funds. It also makes you more suspicious in the eyes of employers who have had employees steal from them. If you can't manage your own life, what makes you think you can manage your employer's business? |

Yes, definitely. |

Yes you can. It is legal for your company to turn you down based on your credit if the position is directly related to a risk involving poor credit, ex - job duties that involve financial responsibility and you show that you don't have any due to poor credit history. |

Of course not. The fact that you have bad credit is not supposed to be known by your prospective employer because it has nothing to do with your efficiency and competence as an employee. |

yeah. some employers check your credit to see if you're trustworthy and responsible. that is one thing they use to base their decision on for hiring people. |

Absolutely yes you can. Me and my x have both had jobs were a credit check was part of the process. |

More employers are checking credit reports. My friend has a job where they checked his credit report. He would not have been hired if it was bad. |

It's possible.
More and more employers are doing credit checks, especially if the job deals with funds. |

You actually can, but they won't tell you. |

Yes. And i think that is a load of horse ****. I mean you need a job so you can rebuild your credit. Assholes. |

Sure ya can.It happens all the time.It shows a lack of responsability. |

Yes you can. Alot of times people have bad credit because they have a low paying job so I can't understand why an employer would be prejudice about that but that's the way it is. Unless of course you are applying for a job that entails you working with money. |

yes any job that will deal with money(baker, accountent, etc.) all jobs will check your credit but not all worry about bad credit. |
