You can probably petition to have it fixed, but I wouldn't try to get money out of it. It also depends on why you were running and what you were doing while you are running. I think they should fix up, but a with a bandaid and someone to kiss it better, I think you will be fine.

nyxcat1999
key word that will come up in the case if you do "running". you can always sue the city that the building is in for not maintaining the municiple buildings but you will have to find a lawyer who is willing to take the case. if they rule that running is an unsafe practice or inapropriate for a municiple building then you can loose the case. of course, I personally feel that this country is to sue happy, no wonder why it costs so much for everything. all the people are suing every where and driving up the prices. just like if you win the suit then taxes may be affected to have to pay you off. that would hurt everyone else.

gald you don't live near me.

I don't know. All you need is a needle and some thread and you're good to go!

HAHA! I believe you meant "sue"...

First of all, its spelled Sue, now Sew. Get it right or you'll never get a court case. Second, that was your own fault for running. They are not liable for you being irresponsible. You can NOT sue them just because you fell on their steps. Its not their fault you fell.

First, learn to spell, otherwise you will never find the Courthouse.
Second, if your "buddy" runs up your front steps, falls and smacks his head, can he sue you?

You've got me hoppin'
You are kidding me right? You want to sue because you fell? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever hear. I have noticed that this generation thinks that for all of their problems, the solution is to sue. I once had my neighbor (who was 7) tell me that if I did not get off the sidewalk in front of his house that he would sue me. It is ridiculous. You should read some stuff and figure out the meaning (and spelling) of sue. So next time think about your question a bit more before asking. Because I don't think that you realize how silly you sound.

Anyone can sue anyone for anything.... It doesn't mean you can win.
Or you can sew up a nice dress to wear to court.... because you won't have any money left to buy one after you pay your lawyer...

ariermagee
you should talk to an attorney as they give free consultations...Most places carry liabilty insurance for those reasons and at least your medical bills will be paid for but don't sign anything if you think something is going to happen down the road from a result in this. In most places there is a 2 year statue of limitations to get this filed...

First sorry to hear you fell and scraped yourself while running on government property. It is unfortunate you were slightly injured while running on public property, but suing the government over it is pointless. Even through the concrete floor was not leveled, I would not attempt to sue the city or the government. Instead I would investigate the proper department to report the building and/or site maintenance concerns so someone authorized can make the needed repairs.

If you do not know what is the correct department, go into the building and look at the building directory. Still don't know whom to contact, ask building security to point you in the right direction.

In the future, hopefully your experience will prompt the necessary repairs so others will not trip as well. Focus on healing yourself instead of suing Good luck.

u can sue for anything now days so i guess so but good luck finding a lawyer and a judge to take your case, if its that painful then go see a doctor.

Sweet Lady Mom
The judge would probably throw it out as a frivolous law suit. Scrapes and bruises are not considered major injuries, and even though they sting, the pain is not considered "horrible".

Sheryl S
Possibly.

First, you need a lawyer because you are not an articulate speaker and will make a fool of yourself in court, if you try to go it alone.

I've known of 2 cases where people fell because of uneven sidewalks and similar conditions. They won small awards. One person was sued by a tenant who claimed she fell down his stairs and despite pictures of perfect front steps and clear weather conditions (no ice or snow), his insurance company still paid her. The other case was someone on a city sidewalk and the city is responsible for maintaining sidewalks. Like I said, the award was small. The fact that you were running will weaken your case.

Personally, I don't think you should be suing anyone because your injuries are not serious and you were not caused to lose time from school or work. The building manager where it happened should definitely repair the steps.
