Jenningslisa69 is actually the only REAL decent (human) answer to the question posed. The question wasn't "what are the consequences..." any grown-up knows that already. All the other posts are just a bunch of goodie-2 shoe, Barney Fifes who need an enema. Stuff happens...sometimes life throws a curve ball through no fault (or faulty planning) of our own. Sometimes we, or at least some of us, are left trying to decide whether we have enough money for an attorney to sue our husband who ran off with his secretary or whether to use the money on medicine for our sick infant...oh, that's right, food! Show some empathy!

I have a checking account and as long as you are NOT in chexsystems you can write a check.... It sounds like you are having a hard time, believe me with FIVE kids i go through the same thing every month.. I have a job but I have been given a vacation for a month and now i am going crazy with an unpaid vacation so i started looking for a job online and here around town i found so many sites that say OH here let us pay you for this that and guess what we are going to charge you.. THEN i cam across this site I am giving below, IT DIDNT charge me anything and I have already made $95 in three days... you just gotta read and click read and click.. I wish you the best and check this site out it might just pay your overdraft

No. That is considered fraud you know.

No. The check will bounce. If you knowingly write the check against the overdrawn account, it could be considered fraud. Also, you will get an overdrawn check charge, probably from your bank and from the store for a returned check, so it may end up costing you an additional $50 or more (depending on how much each charges). In a worst case scenario, not only would you get the overdrawn check charges, but the store could not accept your checks anymore.

The store will be able to run the check through and as long as you are not on Check Systems it will get honored.
Note though that you can be prosecuted for this and will not only receive fees from the store but your bank too - this could add up to an amount that may not make it worth it!

If you know the account is overdrawn and still write a check it is illegal.

The store will deposit the check and it will come back "bounced". The store will want fees froms you and the bank will charge you additional fees.

Use a credit card until you get your account straightened out.

you can write the check, but it will bounce and then the bank will charge you a overdraft fee and the store will charge you a NSF fee.

Umm....why do you want to create a bigger mess for yourself??

Depends if you have overdraft protection from your bank. If yes and the amount of the chq. will not be high then your protection limit, the chq. will pass. You will of course be charged your banking fees for the Overdraft item and interest.

the only time in which you may do so is if your checking account has an overdraft protection limit (check with your bank). if not, heed everyone's advice and don't do that!

No, when they run it through their scanner system it will be declined....you can't cash a check using your driver's license number if you have an overdrawn bank account either..
