Can my credit ruin my Fiances credit when we get married?
I have really bad credit right now that I'm taking care of. But in the meantime, I would like to get married in like 2 years, but we are afraid if we do it will ruin my fiances credit.

When I married I had blemishes on my credit and because I did not have major credit, it was viewed as bad credit; late payments mostly, and a few collection accounts; all total less than $5,000.00 That can seem huge when you don't have it in a lump sum. When we tried to buy a house, I could not qualify with him for the mortgage. WARNING!!!! Clean up your credit. Be equal. You will start marriage at a disadvantage and he will become upset with you because your credit history will reflect on your partnership was a whole. It will also affect your employment because employers check credit when they consider you for hire. After you clean up your credit and pay your debts, then plan your wedding and pay your portion of it yourself, or have your parents help you. If you don't, you will start your life indebted to him as well as to creditors. At the right time, make yours a happy, prosperous home. What you do and learn now, you will be able to share with your children in the future and teach them how to be responsible.

By marrying your girl friend you will not affect her credit, unless you add her to your accounts as a co user, borrower, or guarantor. Each of your credit standings stand alone and only when you buy and borrow together do you have the same credit rating on that shared account. Otherwise neither of you will effect the others credit except by helping the other to clean up negative credit situations.

Mel
Your credit problems are your credit problems it is tied in with you SIN or your SS# (if yoiu are in the states) has nothing to do with your fiance.

Your bad credit will not affect his, as long as he doesnt add you to his accounts and neither of you pay the bill.

Get a copy of your credit report and start cleaning it up. You owe it to yourself and your future husband to start your marriage off without that burden.

Greenbay All the Way!!!!!
it really shouldn't affect his unless you two have loans and credit cards together.

FaZizzle
No--your credit scores and reports will not combine. When you get your mortgage together, both your names will be the mortgage and both will sink or swim. However, yours will not ruin hers and vice versa.

Patti
It won't ruin his credit, but you probably won't be able to buy a home ... or anything else ... in both your names. He will be the only one able to purchase anything.

CinnamonGirl777
yeah...once you get married all of your debt becomes your partners debt

nite_angelica
Yes, it will ruin your fiances credit. But if you guys aren't getting married for two years, you should be able to do a LOT of clean up and get everything paid off, right?

As far as repossessions, pay offs, etc - if those are just on your credit, then yes they will affect your fiance.

It will mess her up a little bit, and if she got good credit you will gain a point or what ever I know it go something like that. You need to pay your credit off because she probably been trying so hard to keep it good and here you go about to mess it up.

oh ya. but what do you care.

Sometimes if you keep his name first...and his credit is good...they will not pay much attention to yours.
