Yep, discover even does it online (www.discovercard.com) All they ask is the name and thats it.
Somehow, tho, they figure out who it is and add the card to their credit report. ... so hopefully your payment history is good.
If you do it, I'd reccomend logging in online once a week and making sure he's being responsible, or only giving it to him on certain times. I know at that age I would have been WAY to tempted! |

yes you can, you'll be responsible for paying whatever he charges. you just call the credit card company up and tell them you want an additional card in your sons name. doesn't matter what age he is since you'll be paying for everything. |

Making your son an authorized user will actually establish credit for him which is what I plan to do for my child someday. It's great because it shows credit available to him but does not make him responsible for it. Credit is so very important and instilling good habits now would be a great gift to him. My only thought is that when I do this for my child someday, I will do it with a card that has a lower line of credit or not much available credit at first and will make sure that they know that I won't get mad if they lose it but will get mad if they don't tell me when they do. |

Yes! Most definitely! All you need to do is call them (or go online) and give them his name, and tell them you'd like him to be an authorized user on your account. Be careful though! If he goes spending crazy, YOU are the one liable for repaying the debt. |
