He's name's not on the card and he's under 18, two reasons why it's illegal.
You will need some cash in the UK. You can't use plastic for everything. |

No, not really. However, you might want to check with your credit card issuer to see if you could add him as an authorized user. This way, he would get a card in his own name, but still under your account. If your credit card is a MasterCard, VISA, or an American Express, it can be used internationally. If it is a Discover, then probably not. So, better check with your card issuer to see if adding him as an authorized user is possible or not. |

all shops require PIN No's now, I use my husbands often, but once a shop assistant noticed his name on the card and refused me, but this is the only time this has happened in the hundreds of times i have used it. He could use it just for getting cash out of ATM's though! |

No absolutely not.
If someone tries to use another person's credit card that is illegal, and no professional person in a shop would allow it, even with Chip and PIN. If you are female (and obviously your son is male) then this is going to arouse a lot of suspicion, as the card is likely to have Mrs, Miss etc printed on the card.
Additionally if your son is 16 then chances are shop workers will think he's too young to have one, and again this will make them suspicious.
Even if he has permission from you, he risks getting into serious trouble with the law if you do this. He might get away with it, but if he's caught he end up being held by the police, in an unfamiliar country, at the age of 16.
But American Express now do a prepay 'credit' card that may be available to him in his own name. This may be only for UK customers and/or for people over 18, but it's worth a look. |

yes he can,IF he noes your chip and pin number, my partner uses mine some times when she goes shopping, and its the same with me ,some times i use her debt card, they never check, because they assume as you have punched in the wright number ,every thing is thine |

Nope, two reasons why not:
1. your son is under 18 - not allowed to have a credit card at all.
2. He is not a co-signatory on the credit card, if caught using your credit card he could be prosecuted for fraud... |
