If they have your social security number, then yes, it is possible to run credit... although it is illegal |

They can. It's illegal to do so though so if someone has your SS number and did check it, you can file a complaint with the FTC. |

Yes however it is illegal. One must obtain A Signed Fair Credit Reporting Act Disclosure form from the person they wish to run a Credit background check on. |

No, they can't. Authorization doesn't need to be in writing, but somehow they have to have received the OK to do so.
You can attempt to sue them under the Fair Credit Reporting act, if you feel it's serious enough to do so. |

No they can't, it's an invasion of privacy. They must be registered with the credit bureaus to do this type of check. |
