Can u go to jail for not paying on a payday loan? Or does it go towards ur credit?
I do not have the cash in my bank account to pay anymore. I do not want to do this, but i would rather have the cash to pay food and stuff than just go to a loan.

you do not go to jail for unpaid deby unless they can prove fraud. do not matter what state your in. what they will do is file suit get a judgement tack on interest and screw up the rest of your life.

If you want some more information, I would check out...

Take care.

No, you won't go to jail for being unable to pay on your payday loan. It will go towards your credit and I suspect their collectors are particularly nasty.

Try to break the cycle of using these bums. They have made a fortune off of you - and you allowed that to occur.

You probably already have bad credit and that's why you are using them.

There are some options available to you. Call your local government and ask for them to recommend a government sponsored credit counseling service. You may find that there are some ways to help you get out of the situation you are in. Do not call a credit counseling service out of the phone book. They often are scammers looking to get more money from you.

Do you have a credit union where you work? It's worth a try to see if they will help you out.

Good luck!

Then why di you take the loan?!?!!?

No, you can;'t go to jail. But they could sue you, win, and garnish your wages and/or bank account.

If you agreed to it, you need to pay it. If that means getting a second job, then DO IT.

BUT, never ever ever again get a payday loan. They are horrible deals.

The US made away with debtors' prisons years ago. The worst thing a creditor can do to you is take you to civil court in order to get a judgment against. Once they have a judgment they may try to collect on that judgment according to the laws in your state.
Other than that they can ruin your credit by reporting you to the credit bureaus. That is it! Debt is a civil, not a criminal matter.

You wouldn't go to jail, but it will affect your credit rating worse than any other default in payment.. you will lose the max amount of points on your credit score... Not worth it, cause one day you will need the credit..

did you give them a 'check' to cover your loan? what I mean is did you give them a check to cover the laon once you get your paycheck. if you did, then this is passing a bad check. then this is a legal issue. if you filled out loan papers, then this is a credit issue. check with the BBB, they can give you more info on your loan. or maybe even ask your bank. they may be of help.

Just bite the bullet and pay that loan off.

How much is it.

The only things payday loans do is get you in a bind. Pay it off and never get another one.

They will not put you in jail but it will go on your credit report and they may sue you to garnish your wages. Just depends on the loan company and the amount of the loan.

I don't think they can take you to jail but it might not be good for your credit card. Talk to them and try to make some arrangement on repaying the loan in future
Good Luck!

No, as long as you don't lie in connection with the loan process, you won't go to jail. However, your credit rating will be affected and it will be difficult to get further loans. In addition, the lender can sue you in court and if they win, they will have a judgment against you. That means that, within certain limits, they can have a portion of your wages taken to satisfy the amount you owe, and they can also have money taken from your bank account when and if you do have some there, for the same reason. You can probably keep them from hounding you by paying them back a little at a time-less than you'd originally planned but to them, it will be better than nothing. The best thing to do is call them (they hate being dodged), tell them what's happening and what you are able to pay, even if it's only a little. Good luck.
