Can you get a credit card even with a bad cred history?

You can still get a credit card in spite of a negative credit history. A word of caution though, your limit might be below than you expect. Also, your introductory rates may be a bit higher than usual. But, a credit card with a low limit is better than having none at all. Anyway, you can still make things better by paying your minimum or the whole amount of the balance that you owe on time. Be smart on when and where to use your credit card and generally, on your finances. This will definitely have a positive bearing on your credit profile in the long run.

Secured credit cards only.

the secret fan and aikidoist
yes you can !!!! But what you may end up with is a credit card that has a $300.00 limit and the fees are $150.00 up frnt. I 've three of those ugly things. My advice is to read the fine print on everything before signing up for it. also if you just a want a credit card try capitol one, use it wisely

You need to repair your credit.

In order to improve your credit score, you may need to both eliminate negative information as well as establish positive credit history.

People with bad credit or poor credit are often face difficulties in obtaining a credit card. The fact is indeed true that their choices are limited when it comes to credit cards but, credit card issuers are increasingly offering financial products that specially cater to bad credit people.

Bad credit problem can be caused due to a number of situations. The credit card choices available to bad credit people allow them to rebuild their credit history. Financial products that help bad credit people are prepaid credit cards or debit cards, secured bad credit cards, unsecured bad credit cards.

Prepaid or debit cards:

These are the easiest option available for bad credit people. There are no verifications, no credit checks, no employment requirements, and the approval is instant. All they have to do is to deposit a money and a prepaid card is issued. This card has the borrowing or buying capacity equivalent to the funds deposited. The good thing with prepaid credit card is that it promotes financial discipline. Some prepaid card issuers report to various credit rating agencies, thus it helps in rebuilding your credit history. Major credit card issuers like Discover, American Express and Chase offer a credit card for bad credit holders. A 'shopping' card offers you an unsecured line of credit from specific sellers. Use these cards to increase your credit rating, since the credit bureaus will be informed about your timely payments.

The best thing to do is go to a store that sells cards on the Greendot Network. It is a prepaid Visa or Mastercard. I have used them for over two years. Works great fro making reservations or buying items on Ebay.

depends on what "bad" means.

You could get a secured credit card, or use a debit card.

If you have bad credit, you have proven that you can't handle credit. I would think you would not want to go down that road again. Didn't you learn your lesson?

** YAMA claims that you will build your credit with a debit card. That is not true.

You might be able to get an unsecured cc with a cosigner.

There are more that a few lenders who specialize in credit cards for people with bad credit. You just have to look a little harder than most people have to.

And getting a card after you've had a few problems doesn't necessarily mean that you have a higher than normal rate. Like, I said, you'll just have to compare between credit lines, yearly fees, and interest percentages. Just make sure you do your homework BEFORE you commit, and you'll be fine.

You can find some offers for credit cards, both secured and unsecured here:

You would have to get a secured card in which you pay some money upfront. A better solution is to improve your credit score. I was able to increase my credit score by 200 points in 90 days. I know you can too because it is so easy. Check out http://www.your-credit-solution.com/creditsolutions.htm .

Sure, usually at a dept store. The other option is to get a card where u pay up front first. The best is to start an account at a bank with checking and then get a debit card for your checking acct. You will never go overboard and u will build a credit history
