You can make 'statement' as long as its true, the debtors will have had the debts registered against them, and its in the public domian , so yes. If there is no CCJ regsistered, then NO. |

If they are a business you could always get a winding up notice served on them, costs depend on solicitor used, but even most of them go a bit funny when you suggest using one, as once one is served the business in question is legally bound to cease trading if the debt is not cleared. its very harsh but effective. |

Not if you wish to continue getting the support from the local community as a whole, from which you no doubt rely on for funding. Who knows who knows who!!! Like the chap said you would be in breach of data protection probs - just make sure charity commission is aware so they can't claim their relief for charitable contributions. |

Keeping in mind I'm not a lawyer....
The Michigan Lible law states in regards to suing for damages: "Damages shall not be awarded in a libel action for the publication or broadcast of a fair and true report of matters of public record, a public and official proceeding, or of a governmental notice, announcement, written or recorded report or record generally available to the public, or act or action of a public body, or for a heading of the report which is a fair and true headnote of the report. "
Therefore, since a judgement is a public record available to the public, I would say that it would be allowed to publish judgement information in the newspaper.
However, there are other portions of the law that mention publishing statements for a "malicious intent". Why else would you be publishing such statements?
The fact that I have yet to see a newspaper that readilly publishes such information, I would bet that it's illegal. You really need to discuss with with a lawyer familiar with your state's liable laws. Personally, I don't think I'd go there. |
