Even if you cancel it, you still have to pay what you have charged up. If you don't pay it back your credit score will deteriorate and you could get sued or even go to jail until the money is paid back.

My suggestion to you is: If one interest rate is lower than the other, transfer the bill all to one.

You can cancel, but you still need to pay. Late payments hurt your credit. If you don't pay it back, credit card company goes to court and gets judgements against you and puts it on your credit. They can also attach liens to personal property. And ruin your credit for long time.

Greenbay All the Way!!!!!
if you dont pay it back, your credit is going to be screwed and yes you can close it but that looks bad on your credit too! so either way your credit is screwed! and if you can't afford it don't buy it unless it is an absolute emergency!!!!

Curious
You can cancel a card that still has a balance on it, however you will still need to pay the balance. Canceling any line of credit will damage your credit score though. If you don't pay, your credit will be severly damaged and will take about 7 years to repair. Also you will get payment notices and eventually sent to collections.

Try transfering the balance to the other card if you still have credit left.

That isn't how it works. You can't just cancel a card and not pay the balance. The credit card company will come after you for the balance. They will send the account to collections and ruin your credit. At least continue making the minimum payments on both cards. If you can't afford to even do that then you've got bigger problems. Get a second job if you have to.

You have to pay it off, you can cancel the card but the meter keeps running until you have paid it all back. If you do not continue to make at least monthly payments on time. Or decide to not pay it off at all, it will shatter your credit standings, and make it difficult in the future to make any large purchases such as vehicles, or even houses.

Just because you cancel the credit card that has a balance on it, it doesn't mean the balance just goes away. You will still have to pay it. If you don't pay it, it will go on your credit record. If you need help getting your finances straight, you can email me at kevinjunior_2000@yahoo.com

before you close your account you need to pay if off. Also if you decide not to pay it off you'll ruin your credit no other agencies will offer you credi. What you can do is transfer the credit card to the lowest interest card you have so you only have one payment.

you have to pay what you owe, there is no getting around it. if you do not pay your account will be turned over to a collection agency and they will harass you forever to get you to pay your debt. also, your credit score will be drastically affected. you need to make your payments, on time. even if it's the minimum payment, it's important for your financial future. if you do not do this, you will have a very difficult time in the future trying to get a mortgage, a loan for school, a good price for car insurance, everything. your credit score affects everything. so, make the minimum payments on both cards, do not charge anything else on the cards, and save money until you can pay off the debt. once your balance is zero, do not cancel the card. this can also adversely affect your credit. cut the card up, don't use it, but don't close the account. it's better for your credit score to keep it open. from now on, pay cash for all your purchases and you won't be in this trouble again. but remember, you must pay what you owe! best of luck!

The balance has to be ZERO before you can cancel. If you don't pay it then it will rack up fees and then go to collections and be marked on your credit report.
